Issues of life are out of. Prov. 4:23²³Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23).

GOD.

Tries. 1 Chron. 29:17¹⁷I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee. (1 Chronicles 29:17). Jer. 12:23.

Knows. Psa. 44:21²¹Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. (Psalm 44:21). Jer. 20:12¹²But, O Lord of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause. (Jeremiah 20:12).

Searches. 1 Chron. 28:9⁹And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. (1 Chronicles 28:9). Jer. 17:10¹⁰I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10).

Ponders. Prov. 21:2²Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts. (Proverbs 21:2). Prov. 24:12¹²If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works? (Proverbs 24:12).

Influences. 1 Sam. 10:26²⁶And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched. (1 Samuel 10:26). Ezr. 6:22²²And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel. (Ezra 6:22). Ezra 7:27²⁷Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem: (Ezra 7:27). Prov. 21:1¹The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Proverbs 21:1). Jer. 20:9⁹Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. (Jeremiah 20:9).

Creates a new. Psa. 51:10¹⁰Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10). Ezek. 36:26²⁶A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26).

Prepares. 1 Chron. 29:18¹⁸O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee: (1 Chronicles 29:18). Prov. 16:1¹The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. (Proverbs 16:1).

Opens. Acts 16:14¹⁴And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. (Acts 16:14).

Enlightens. 2 Cor. 4:6⁶For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6). Eph. 1:18¹⁸The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:18).

Strengthens. Psa. 27:14¹⁴Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14).

Establishes. Psa. 112:8⁸His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. (Psalm 112:8). 1 Thess. 3:13¹³To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. (1 Thessalonians 3:13).

SHOULD BE

Prepared unto God. 1 Sam. 7:3³And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. (1 Samuel 7:3).

Given to God. Prov. 23:26²⁶My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. (Proverbs 23:26).

Perfect with God. 1 Kin. 8:61.

Applied unto wisdom. Psa. 90:12¹²So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. (Psalm 90:12). Prov. 2:2²So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; (Proverbs 2:2).

Guided in the right way. Prov. 23:19¹⁹Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. (Proverbs 23:19).

Purified. James 4:8⁸Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:8).

Single. Eph. 6:5⁵Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; (Ephesians 6:5). Col. 3:22²²Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: (Colossians 3:22). Tender. Eph. 4:32³²And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32).

Kept with diligence. Prov. 4:23²³Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23).

WE SHOULD

Believe with. Acts 8:37³⁷And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (Acts 8:37). Rom. 10:10¹⁰For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10).

Serve God with all. Deut. 11:13¹³And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, (Deuteronomy 11:13).

Keep God's statutes with all. Deu, 26:16.

Walk before God with all. 1 Kin. 2:4.

Trust in God with all. Prov. 3:5⁵Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).

Love God with all. Matt. 22:37³⁷Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (Matthew 22:37).

Return to God with all. Deut. 30:2²And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; (Deuteronomy 30:2).

Do the will of God from. Eph. 6:6⁶Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; (Ephesians 6:6).

Sanctify God in. 1 Peter 3:15¹⁵But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1 Peter 3:15).

Love one another with a pure. 1 Peter 1:22²²Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: (1 Peter 1:22).

No man can cleanse. Prov. 20:9⁹Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? (Proverbs 20:9).

Faith, the means of purifying. Acts 15:9⁹And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. (Acts 15:9).

Renewal of, promised under the gospel. Ezek. 11:19¹⁹And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: (Ezekiel 11:19). Ezek. 36:26²⁶A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26). Heb. 3:10¹⁰Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. (Hebrews 3:10).

When broken and contrite, not despised by God. Psa. 51:17¹⁷The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:17).

The pure in, shall see God. Matt. 5:8⁸Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8).

PRAY THAT IT MAY BE

Cleansed. Psa. 51:10¹⁰Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10).

Inclined to God's testimonies. Psa. 119:36³⁶Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. (Psalm 119:36).

United to fear God. Psa. 86:11¹¹Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. (Psalm 86:11).

Directed into the love of God. 2 The. 3:5.

Harden not, against God. Psa. 95:8⁸Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: (Psalm 95:8) with Heb. 4:7⁷Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. (Hebrews 4:7).

Harden not against the poor. Deut. 15:7⁷If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: (Deuteronomy 15:7).

Regard not iniquity in. Psa. 66:18¹⁸If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: (Psalm 66:18).

Take heed lest it be deceived. Deut. 11:16¹⁶Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; (Deuteronomy 11:16).

Know the plague of. 1 Kin. 8:38.

He that trusteth in, is a fool. Prov. 28:26²⁶He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. (Proverbs 28:26).
