I Know Their Sorrows

Jesus knows our sorrows,
Knows them every one,
And He will deliver
When God's will is done.
Yes, He knows the sorrow,
He allows it, too,
But He feels the suffering
That His child goes through.
Though in His great wisdom
Grief may needful be,
Still in His compassion
He will comfort thee.
And He comes to comfort
With this word of cheer:
"It is I, beloved,
Doubt not, neither fear."
Christ, "the Man of sorrows,"
Sees your sorrow, too,
And He will deliver,
For "He careth for you."
Yes, the Man of Sorrows,
Knows and shares your grief,
He alone can comfort,
He will give relief.
It is not His pleasure,
Willingly to grieve,
His beloved children
Who His love receive.
But the only purpose
Of His loving Hand,
Is for greater blessing
Than we understand.
To increase our knowledge
Of His heart of love,
To draw our affections
To the things above.
O to trust through sorrow,
Trust Him, and be still,
That His loving purpose
He may then fulfill.
"Though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men" (Lamentations 3:32-3332But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. 33For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. (Lamentations 3:32‑33)).
"I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor" (Psalm 140:1212I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. (Psalm 140:12)).
