The Joy of Worship

 •  1 min. read  •  grade level: 7

"They worshiped — and returned with joy,"
'Tis evermore the same;
There's joy unspeakable for those
Who bow before His Name.
Who take a little time apart
To sit at Jesus' feet,
He fills their hungry souls with joy
And happiness complete.
He gives a great exceeding joy,
A calm and peaceful mind;
A deep and everlasting joy
With tranquil rest combined.
Love moved Him to lay down His life
A ransom in our stead;
For us, He bore the wrath of God,
For us, His blood was shed.
To praise Him for that finished work,
And worship Him, 'tis meet,
With thankful and adoring hearts
To sit at Jesus' feet.
To then, remember Him in death,
And ponder that great love,
Which led Him down to Calvary
From Glory bright above.
The Father seeketh worshipers
To take some time apart,
And magnify that worthy Name
So precious to His heart.
Who answers to His heart's desire
"This do remember Me,"
Will sweetest joy of worship know
And ne'er the loser be.
"They worshipped — and returned with joy,"
How true it is today—
In worship, there's exceeding joy
That nought can take away.
