WE are most thankful to know that this terrible War is making men and women in France think. There is a feeling towards God amid thousands in a nation that has sought to do without Him. A Methodist paper tells us that the Socialist Mayor of a small commune of the Department of the Gard sent to every soldier of the Department who responded to the order of mobilization a New Testament, on the first page of which was written, above his signature:
“This is the Truth.”
Grand testimony this to the power of the Word of God. May Testaments and the Gospels be given to every soldier in the Allied Armies. May the enemy also be provided with the Word of God, and may the power of the Spirit of God turn racial hatred to Christian love.
