Deut. 31:19‑22• 19{i}And now, write ye this song, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.{/i}
20{i}For I shall bring them into the land which I swore unto their fathers, which floweth with milk and honey; and they will eat and fill themselves, and wax fat, and will turn unto other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant.{/i}
21{i}And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed; for I know their imagination which they are forming already this day, before I bring them into the land which I have sworn unto them.{/i}
22{i}And Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Israel.{/i} (Deut. 31:19‑22)
Judg. 5:1‑31• 1{i}Then sang Deborah and Barak, the son of Abinoam, on that day, saying,{/i}
2{i}For that leaders led in Israel,{HR}For that the people willingly offered themselves,{HR}Bless Jehovah!{HR}{/i}
3{i}Hear, ye kings; give ear, ye princes,{HR}I, even I, will sing to Jehovah;{HR}I will hymn to Jehovah the God of Israel.{HR}{/i}
4{i}Jehovah, when thou wentest forth from Seir,{HR}When thou marchedst out of the fields of Edom,{HR}The earth trembled, and the heavens dropped,{HR}Yea, the clouds dropped water.{HR}{/i}
5{i}The mountains quaked before the face of Jehovah,{HR}That Sinai, from before Jehovah the God of Israel.{/i}
6{i}In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael,{HR}The roads were unused,{HR}And the travellers on highways went by crooked paths.{HR}{/i}
7{i}The villages ceased in Israel,{HR}Ceased until that I Deborah arose,{HR}That I arose a mother in Israel.{HR}{/i}
8{i}They chose new gods; then was war in the gates:{HR}Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?{/i}
9{i}My heart is toward the governors of Israel,{HR}Who offered themselves willingly among the people.{HR}Bless Jehovah!{HR}{/i}
10{i}Ye that ride on white she-asses,{HR}Ye that sit on carpets,{HR}And ye that walk by the way, consider.{HR}{/i}
11{i}Because of the voice of those who divide the spoil{HR}In the midst of the places of drawing water;{HR}There they rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah,{HR}His righteous acts toward his villages in Israel.{HR}Then the people of Jehovah went down to the gates.{/i}
12{i}Awake, awake, Deborah! awake, awake, utter a song!{HR}Arise, Barak, and lead captive thy captives, thou son of Abinoam!{HR}{/i}
13{i}Then come down, thou, the remnant of nobles, as his people;{HR}Jehovah! come down with me in the midst of the mighty ones.{HR}{/i}
14{i}Out of Ephraim came those whose root was in Amalek;{HR}After thee was Benjamin among thy peoples.{HR}Out of Machir came down governors,{HR}And out of Zebulun they that handled the staff of the ruler.{HR}{/i}
15{i}And the princes in Issachar were with Deborah;{HR}And Issachar, like Barak;{HR}They were sent into the valley at his feet.{HR}In the divisions of Reuben there were great resolves of heart!{HR}{/i}
16{i}Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds,{HR}To hear the bleating of the flocks?{HR}In the divisions of Reuben there were great deliberations of heart!{HR}{/i}
17{i}Gilead abode beyond Jordan;{HR}And Dan, why did he remain in ships?{HR}Asher sat on the sea-shore, And abode in his creeks.{HR}{/i}
18{i}Zebulun is a people that jeoparded their lives unto death,{HR}Naphtali also, on the high places of the field.{/i}
19{i}Kings came, —they fought;{HR}Then fought the kings of Canaan;{HR}At Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo;{HR}They took no spoil of silver.{HR}{/i}
20{i}From heaven was the fight;{HR}The stars from their courses fought with Sisera.{HR}{/i}
21{i}The torrent of Kishon swept them away,{HR}That ancient torrent, the torrent Kishon.{HR}My soul, thou hast trodden down strength!{HR}{/i}
22{i}Then did the horse-hoofs clatter with the coursings,{HR}The coursings of their steeds.{/i}
23{i}Curse Meroz, saith the Angel of Jehovah;{HR}Curse, curse the inhabitants thereof;{HR}For they came not to the help of Jehovah,{HR}To the help of Jehovah among the mighty.{/i}
24{i}Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be,{HR}Blessed above women in the tent!{HR}{/i}
25{i}He asked water, she gave milk;{HR}In the nobles' bowl she brought forth cream.{HR}{/i}
26{i}She put her hand to the tent-pin,{HR}And her right hand to the workmen's hammer;{HR}And she smote Sisera, she struck through his head,{HR}Shattered and pierced through his temples.{HR}{/i}
27{i}Between her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down:{HR}Between her feet he bowed, he fell;{HR}Where he bowed, there he fell, overcome.{/i}
28{i}Them other of Sisera looketh out at the window,{HR}And crieth through the lattice,{HR}Why is his chariot so long in coming?{HR}Why tarry the trampings of his chariots?{HR}{/i}
29{i}The wise amongst her ladies answer her,{HR}Yea, she returneth answer to herself,{HR}{/i}
30{i}Have they not found, divided the booty,{HR}A damsel, two damsels, to each?{HR}A booty of dyed stuffs for Sisera,{HR}A booty of dyed stuffs of embroidery,{HR}Dyed stuff of double embroidery for the neck of a spoiler?{/i}
31{i}So let all thine enemies perish, Jehovah!{HR}But let them that love him{HR}Be as the rising of the sun in its might.{/i} (Judg. 5:1‑31)
