Nunca ni en un solo caso, según yo creo, reclamó la persona o el servicio de aquellos que Él restablecía y rescataba. Nunca hizo del rescate efectuado un título para el servicio. Jesús amaba, sanaba y salvaba, no esperando nada en retorno. No le permitió a Legión, al Gadareno, estar con Él (Lucas 5:18-2018And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 49While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 51And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 56And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done. Eran el fruto de la energía de Su Espíritu y del afecto encendido en los corazones constreñidos por Su amor (2 Corintios 5:14-1514For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Y enviándoles, les dijo: “De gracia recibisteis, dad de gracia” (Mateo 10:88Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Matthew 10:8)). Ciertamente hay algo más allá del concepto humano en la delineación de ese carácter (Mateo 11:2727All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (Matthew 11:27)). Uno repite ese pensamiento una y otra vez. Y es muy placentero añadir que en las formas más sencillas esta gloria moral del Señor brilla a veces —esas formas que son inmediatamente inteligibles a todas las percepciones y simpatías del corazón—. Así de esta manera Él nunca rehusó la fe más débil, aun cuando aceptaba y contestaba, y eso también con deleite, los allegamientos y las demandas de los más atrevidos.
La fe fuerte, que se allegaba a Él sin ceremonia ni pidiendo excusa en una seguridad completa e inmediata, siempre era bienvenida por Él; mientras que el alma tímida que se allegaba a Él con timidez y con disculpas, era animada y bendecida. Sus labios inmediatamente quitaron del corazón del pobre leproso aquello que pendía sobre ese corazón como una nube. “Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme”, dijo él. “Quiero: sé limpio”, dijo Jesús (Lucas 5:12-1312And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. (Luke 5:12‑13)). And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. (Luke 7:2‑10)) y cuando la fe sincera y llena de confianza de una familia en Israel deshizo el techo de la casa donde Él estaba, para poder hacer descender y poner ante Él su enfermo (Marcos 2:3-53And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. (Mark 2:3‑5)).
Cuando una fe débil apelaba al Señor, Él concedía la bendición que buscaba, pero reprochaba al que la buscaba. Pero aún este reproche está lleno de consuelo para nosotros; porque parece decir: “¿Por qué no hiciste uso de Mí de una manera más libre, más cabal y más feliz?”. Si apreciamos al Dador tanto como al don —el corazón de Cristo tanto como Su mano— este reproche de fe débil sería tan bienvenido como la respuesta a él (Lucas 8:24-2524And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. (Luke 8:24‑25)).
Y si la fe pequeña es reprendida de esta manera, la fe fuerte debe ser apreciada. Y por lo tanto, tenemos razón para saber que esa escena tan espléndida estaba bajo la vista del Señor, cuando en el caso ya visto, quebraron el techo de la casa para poder alcanzarlo. Fue, en verdad, bien seguro estoy, un gran espectáculo para los ojos del divino y pródigo Jesús. Su corazón fue penetrado por ese acto, tan ciertamente como la casa de Capernaum fue penetrada por ello.
Vemos glorias y humildades en, nuestro Redentor: ciertamente que sí; porque necesitamos ambas.

Ninguna diminución de Sus honores, aun cuando se adaptó a nuestra pobreza: nada en que no nos pueda servir, aun cuando es glorioso y sin mancha y cabal en Sí mismo (Romanos 8:34-3534Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
