GOD, moved in sympathy to man
SO very far from Him,
LOVED to reveal himself in grace
THE heart of man to win.
The WORLD had wandered far from God,
And in THAT distance lay
Till HE in mercy interposed
And GAVE His Son to die.
HIS Son He gave our hearts to win—
His ONLY Son from heaven—
Only BEGOTTEN Son was He—
That SON for us was given.
THAT tells His heart of love for us,
And WHOSOEVER here
BELIEVETH in His precious name,
Shall IN His glory share.
All who in HIM have placed their trust
SHOULD ever seek and pray
Their hearts might NOT on things be set
That PERISH in a day;
BUT follow in His footsteps here,
And HAVE their hopes above
Where EVERLASTING glory reigns,
A LIFE of peace and love.
