Jude wrote this letter to warn Christians against false teachers who pretend to be Christians. They are dangerous because they try to disturb the faith of Christians. But we should be strong in the faith, not stop believing God’s true message, and continue to obey the Word of God. God’s Word is truth, and it will never change.
Jude gives examples from history of people who decided to do sinful things and to teach error. They received the punishment of God. It is a warning to us. We shouldn’t let others deceive us. The apostles also warned that people would mock the truths of Christianity to excuse their guilt of ungodly beliefs and actions. These people will eventually separate themselves from Christianity to follow their own desires. They do not have the Spirit of God.
We believers need to read the Word of God and obey it. Make the Word of God the guide for our life. Praying in the Holy Spirit means that our prayer will agree with the Word of God. Keep ourselves in the love of God. The love of God is always present. If sin is allowed in our life, we cannot enjoy the love of God. If we confess and forsake our sin, we will again enjoy the love of God. Looking for the mercy is to wait and watch for the Lord Jesus to come and take us believers to be with Him in heaven. As we grow in our knowledge and love for the Lord Jesus, we will be able to help other Christians have a life of joy that gives honor to God.
