Lev. 3:1‑17• 1And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offerings, if he present of the herd whether male or female, he shall present it without blemish before Jehovah.
 2And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his oblation, and slaughter it at the entrance of the tent of meeting; and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle of the blood round about on the altar.
 3And he shall present of the sacrifice of peace offerings a fire offering unto Jehovah: the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that is on the inwards,
 4and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the net above the liver which he shall take away as far as the kidneys;
 5and Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt offering which is on the wood that is upon the fire: a fire offering of sweet odour to Jehovah.
 6{i}And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace-offering to Jehovah be of small cattle, male or female, he shall present it without blemish.{/i}
 7{i}If he present a sheep for his offering,{/i} then he shall present it before Jehovah
 8and he shall lay his hand on the head of it, and slaughter it before the tent of meeting. And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood of it on the altar round about
 9{i}And he shall present of the sacrifice of peace-offering an offering by fire to Jehovah; the fat thereof{/i}, the whole fat tail, he shall take it away close by the backbone, the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that [is] on the inwards,
 10and the two kidneys and the fat that [is] on them which [is] by the flank, and the net above the liver, he shall take away as far as the kidneys;
 11and the priest shall burn them on the altar, the food of the fire offering for a sweet odour{i}.
 12And if his offering [be] a goat, then he shall present it before Jehovah;
 13and he shall lay his hand on the head of it, and slaughter it before the tent of meeting. And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood of it on the altar round about.
 14And he shall present thereof his offering, a fire offering to Jehovah: the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that [is] on the inwards,
 15and the two kidneys and the fat that [is] on them which [is] by the flank, and the net above the liver, he shall take away as far as the kidneys.
 16And the priest shall burn them on the altar, the food of the fire offering for a sweet odour. All the fat [is] Jehovah's.
 17[It is] an everlasting statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings: no fat and no blood shall ye eat. (Lev. 3:1‑17)

 20Whatsoever hath a blemish shall ye not offer, for it shall not be acceptable for you.
 21And when a man offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings to Jehovah as a vow or an offering of the herds or of the flocks, it shall be without blemish to be accepted: no defect shall be therein. (Lev. 22:18‑21)

• {v.11-34} If we turn to the law of the offerings, we shall find that the rest was eaten. The breast was for Aaron and his sons, type of the whole church; the right shoulder for the priest that sprinkled the blood, more especially type of Christ, as the offering priest; the rest of the animal was eaten by him who presented it, and those invited by him. Thus there was identity and communion with the glory and good pleasure-with the delight-of Him to whom it was offered, with the priesthood and the altar, which were the instruments and means of the offering, with all God’s priests, and among those immediately taking part.
