Laodicea represents the bad condition of the Christian testimony just before Jesus takes the believers to heaven. True Christians read their Bible, pray, go to meetings, and serve Jesus. They are hot. Cold people don’t want Jesus to be Lord of their life. But in the Christianity of Laodicea, the people are lukewarm. They say they are Christians, they talk about the teachings of the Bible, but they do not believe or practice the ways of God.
Lukewarm people go to church to get entertained in the name of Jesus. They feel good about themselves, but they have no love for Jesus. They do good works to impress others. But this is disgusting to God. Jesus will spit them out of His mouth. Most of these people are not saved. They love money, sports, entertainment and electronics. They think riches are proof of godliness. They say they have need of nothing, but they are spiritually poor. Laodicea means “rights of the people.” Laodiceans say they are Christians, but they don’t want Christ to tell them what to do. In fact, they ignore Christ as head of the church.
The presence of Jesus is not in the church of Laodicea. The Lord is outside knocking on the door to call out the true believers. Jesus Christ won’t become a part of Laodicea, but He will come in to have fellowship with the individual believers. If you are saved, repent of being lukewarm. Open the door and Jesus will come in to be a part of your daily life. Jesus wants to have fellowship with you.
