There is no doubt among unbiassed minds that the interchange of the long and short vowels is very common in the oldest MSS., which are, therefore, less to be trusted in such a question than in any other. I therefore am incline to "If the Lord will, and we live, we shall also do this or that." The RV bows to the general judgment of the critics, who follow the oldest MSS. in adopting "we should live" instead of "we shall live" according to other MSS.
