 In the following verses we have Jehovah’s interposition for the defense and salvation of His people. (Zechariah 12 by E. Dennett)
 “The horse and his rider,” as has been said, “had, through Moses’ song at the Red Sea, become the emblem of worldly pride and power.” But it is not here as in the Red Sea, into which both the horse and his rider were cast; for here they are smitten suddenly with a divine stroke, and the effect is “astonishment and madness.” The forces of the nations are thus paralyzed; and so thrown into utter confusion, dismay and disaster are the necessary consequence.
