Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? (1 Corinthians 9:1)
excludes it, and when we read ‘some of the closing words of the apostles, such as Paul’s address to the elders of the Ephesian Church, we find no thought of any successors, but the disciples are committed to “God and the word of His grace.”
