Ex. 19:1‑40:38• 1In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
2They departed from Rephidim, and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and encamped in the wilderness; and Israel encamped there before the mountain.
3And Moses went up to God, and Jehovah called to him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4Ye have seen what I have done to the Egyptians, and how I have borne you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.
5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine,
6and ye shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak to the children of Israel.
7And Moses came and called the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which Jehovah had commanded him.
8And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah has spoken will we do! And Moses brought the words of the people back to Jehovah.
9And Jehovah said to Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee forever. And Moses told the words of the people to Jehovah.
10And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people, and hallow them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes;
11and let them be ready for the third day; for on the third day Jehovah will come down before the eyes of all the people on mount Sinai.
12And set bounds round about the people, saying, Take heed to yourselves, not to go up unto the mountain nor touch the border of it: whatever toucheth the mountain shall certainly be put to death:
13not a hand shall touch it, but it shall certainly be stoned, or shot through; whether it be a beast or a man, it shall not live. When the long drawn note of the trumpet soundeth, they shall come up to the mountain.
14And Moses came down from the mountain to the people, and hallowed the people; and they washed their clothes.
15And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives.
16And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and the sound of the trumpet exceeding loud; and the whole people that was in the camp trembled.
17And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
18And the whole of mount Sinai smoked, because Jehovah descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace; and the whole mountain shook greatly.
19And the sound of the trumpet increased and became exceeding loud; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.
20And Jehovah came down on mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain; and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21And Jehovah said to Moses, Go down, testify to the people that they break not through to Jehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.
22And the priests also, who come near to Jehovah, shall hallow themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.
23And Moses said to Jehovah, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai; for thou hast testified to us, saying, Set bounds about the mountain, and hallow it.
24And Jehovah said to him, Go, descend, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; but the priests and the people shall not break through to go up to Jehovah, lest he break forth on them.
25So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
1And God spoke all these words, saying,
2I am Jehovah thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4Thou shalt not make thyself any graven image, or any form of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters under the earth:
5thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and to the fourth generation of them that hate me,
6and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
7Thou shalt not idly utter the name of Jehovah thy God; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that idly uttereth his name.
8Remember the Sabbath day to hallow it.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
10but the seventh day is the Sabbath of Jehovah thy God: thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy bondman, nor thy handmaid, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
11For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
13Thou shalt not kill.
14Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15Thou shalt not steal.
16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.
18And all the people saw the thunderings, and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off,
19and said to Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.
21And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the obscurity where God was.
22And Jehovah said to Moses, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: Ye have seen that I have spoken with you from the heavens.
23Ye shall not make beside me gods of silver, and ye shall not make to you gods of gold.
24An altar of earth shalt thou make unto me, and shalt sacrifice on it thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep and thine oxen: in all places where I shall make my name to be remembered, I will come unto thee, and bless thee.
25And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone; for if thou lift up thy sharp tool upon it, thou hast profaned it.
26Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
1And these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
2If thou buy a Hebrew bondman, six years shall he serve; and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4If his master have given him a wife, and she have borne him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
5And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.
7And if a man shall sell his daughter as a handmaid, she shall not go out as the bondmen go out.
8If she is unacceptable in the eyes of her master, who had taken her for himself, then shall he let her be ransomed: to sell her unto a foreign people he hath no power, after having dealt unfaithfully with her.
9And if he have appointed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the law of daughters.
10If he take himself another, her food, her clothing, and her conjugal rights he shall not diminish.
11And if he do not these three things unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
12He that striketh a man, so that he die, shall certainly be put to death.
13But if he have not lain in wait, and God have delivered him into his hand, I will appoint thee a place to which he shall flee.
14But if a man act wantonly toward his neighbour, and slay him with guile, thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
15And he that striketh his father, or his mother, shall certainly be put to death.
16And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall certainly be put to death.
17And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall certainly be put to death.
18And if men dispute, and one strike the other with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but take to his bed,
19—if he rise, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that struck him be guiltless; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
20And if a man strike his bondman or his handmaid with a staff, and he die under his hand, he shall certainly be avenged.
21Only, if he continue to live a day or two days, he shall not be avenged; for he is his money.
22And if men strive together, and strike a woman with child, so that she be delivered, and no mischief happen, he shall in any case be fined, according as the woman's husband shall impose on him, and shall give it as the judges estimate.
23But if mischief happen, then thou shalt give life for life,
24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25branding for branding, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26And if a man strike the eye of his bondman or the eye of his handmaid, and it be marred, he shall let him go for his eye.
27And if he knock out his bondman's tooth or his handmaid's tooth, he shall let him go free for his tooth.
28And if an ox gore a man or a woman, so that they die, then the ox shall certainly be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be guiltless.
29But if the ox have gored heretofore, and it have been testified to its owner, and he have not kept it in, and it kill a man or a woman, —the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.
30If there be imposed on him a satisfaction, then he shall give the ransom of his life, according to what is imposed on him.
31Whether it gore a son or gore a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done to him.
32If the ox gore a bondman or a handmaid, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
33—And if a man open a pit, or if a man dig a pit, and do not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall into it,
34the owner of the pit shall make it good, shall give money to the owner of them; and the dead ox shall be his.
35—And if one man's ox gore his neighbour's ox, and it die, then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money thereof, and divide the dead also.
36Or if it be known that the ox have gored heretofore, and its owner have not kept him in, he shall in any case restore ox for ox; and the dead shall be his.
1If a man steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it, he shall restore five oxen for the ox, and four sheep for the sheep.
2If the thief be encountered breaking in, and be smitten so that he die, there shall be no blood-guiltiness for him.
3If the sun be risen on him, there shall be blood-guiltiness for him; he should have made full restitution: if he had nothing, he would have been sold for his theft.
4If the stolen thing be actually found alive in his hand, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep, he shall restore double.
5If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and put in his cattle, and pasture in another man's field, of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make it good.
6—If fire break out, and seize the thorns, and the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field be consumed, he that kindled the fire shall fully make it good.
7—If a man deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him restore double;
8if the thief be not found, the master of the house shall be brought before the judges, to see if he has not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
9As to all manner of fraud, —as to ox, as to ass, as to sheep, as to clothing, as to everything lost, of which a man saith, It is this—the cause of both parties shall come before the judges: he whom the judges shall condemn shall restore double to his neighbour.
10If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any cattle, to keep, and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, and no man see it,
11an oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make it good.
12But if it have been stolen from him, he shall make it good unto its owner.
13If it have been torn in pieces, let him bring it as witness: he shall not make good what was torn.
14—And if a man borrow anything of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, its owner not being with it, he shall fully make it good;
15if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good; if it be a hired thing, it came for its hire.
16And if a man seduce a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall certainly endow her, to be his wife.
17If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall weigh money according to the dowry of virgins.
18—Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
19—Every one that lieth with a beast shall certainly be put to death.
20—He that sacrificeth to any god, save to Jehovah only, shall be devoted to destruction.
21Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him; for ye have been strangers in the land of Egypt.
22Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.
23If thou afflict him in any way, if he cry at all unto me, I will certainly hear his cry;
24and my anger shall burn, and I will slay you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25—If thou lend money to my people, the poor with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer: ye shall charge him no interest.
26—If thou at all take thy neighbour's garment in pledge, thou shalt return it to him before the sun goes down;
27for that is his only covering, his garment for his skin: on what shall he lie down? And it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
28Thou shalt not revile the judges, nor curse a prince amongst thy people.
29—Thou shalt not delay the fullness of thy threshing-floor and the outflow of thy winepress. The firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
30Likewise shalt thou do with thy calf, with thy sheep: seven days shall it be with its dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
31—And ye shall be holy men unto me; and ye shall not eat flesh torn in the field: ye shall cast it to the dog.
1Thou shalt not accept a false report; extend not thy hand to the wicked, to be an unrighteous witness.
2Thou shalt not follow the multitude for evil; neither shalt thou answer in a cause, to go after the multitude to pervert judgment.
3Neither shalt thou favour a poor man in his cause.
4—If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt certainly bring it back to him.
5If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under its burden, beware of leaving it to him: thou shalt certainly loosen it with him.
6Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of thy poor in his cause.
7Thou shalt keep far from the cause of falsehood; and the innocent and righteous slay not; for I will not justify the wicked.
8And thou shalt take no bribe; for the bribe blindeth those whose eyes are open, and perverteth the words of the righteous.
9And the stranger thou shalt not oppress; for ye know the spirit of the stranger, for ye have been strangers in the land of Egypt.
10And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and gather in its produce;
11but in the seventh thou shalt let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of thy people may eat of it; and what they leave, the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thine olive-tree.
12—Six days thou shalt do thy work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger may be refreshed.
13And ye shall be on your guard as to everything that I have said unto you; and shall make no mention of the name of other gods—it shall not be heard in thy mouth.
14Thrice in the year thou shalt celebrate a feast to me.
15Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread, (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I have commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt; and none shall appear in my presence empty;)
16and the feast of harvest, the first-fruits of thy labours which thou hast sown in the field, and the feast of in-gathering, at the end of the year, when thou gatherest in thy labours out of the field.
17Three times in the year all thy males shall appear in the presence of the Lord Jehovah.
18Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my feast remain all night until the morning.
19The first of the first-fruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
20Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee to the place that I have prepared.
21Be careful in his presence, and hearken unto his voice: do not provoke him, for he will not forgive your transgressions; for my name is in him.
22But if thou shalt diligently hearken unto his voice, and do all that I shall say, then I will be an enemy to thine enemies, and an adversary to thine adversaries.
23For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off.
24Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their deeds; but thou shalt utterly destroy them, and utterly shatter their statues.
25And ye shall serve Jehovah your God; and he shall bless thy bread and thy water; and I will take sickness away from thy midst.
26There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land; the number of thy days will I fulfil.
27I will send my fear before thee, and confound every people to which thou comest, and will make all thine enemies turn their back to thee.
28And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.
29I will not drive them out from before thee in one year: lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.
30By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou art fruitful, and possess the land.
31And I will set thy bounds from the Red Sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness unto the river; for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, that thou mayest dispossess them from before thee.
32Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
33They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me; for if thou serve their gods, it is sure to be a snare unto thee.
1And he said unto Moses, Come up unto Jehovah, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship ye afar off.
2And Moses alone shall come near Jehovah, but they shall not come nigh, neither shall the people go up with him.
3And Moses came and told the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the judgments; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which Jehovah hath said will we do.
4And Moses wrote all the words of Jehovah, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5And he sent the youths of the children of Israel, and they offered up burnt-offerings, and sacrificed sacrifices of peace-offering of bullocks to Jehovah.
6And Moses took half the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7And he took the book of the covenant, and read it in the ears of the people; and they said, All that Jehovah has said will we do, and obey!
8And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant that Jehovah has made with you concerning all these words.
9And Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up;
10and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were work of transparent sapphire, and as it were the form of heaven for clearness.
11And on the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: they saw God, and ate and drank.
12And Jehovah said to Moses, Come up to me into the mountain, and be there; and I will give thee the tables of stone, and the law, and the commandment that I have written, for their instruction.
13And Moses rose up, and Joshua his attendant; and Moses went up to the mountain of God.
14And he said to the elders, Wait here for us, until we return to you; and behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matter, let him come before them.
15And Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
16And the glory of Jehovah abode on mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain, before the eyes of the children of Israel.
18And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and ascended the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me a heave-offering: of every one whose heart prompteth him, ye shall take my heave-offering.
3And this is the heave-offering that ye shall take of them: gold, and silver, and copper,
4and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and byssus, and goats' hair,
5and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins; and acacia-wood;
6oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil, and for the incense of fragrant drugs;
7onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
8And they shall make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
9According to all that I shall show thee, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the utensils thereof, even so shall ye make it.
10And they shall make an ark of acacia-wood; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold: inside and outside shalt thou overlay it; and shalt make upon it a border of gold round about.
12And cast four rings of gold for it, and put them at the four corners thereof, that two rings may be upon the one side thereof and two rings upon the other side thereof.
13And make staves of acacia-wood and overlay them with gold.
14And put the staves into the rings upon the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.
15The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not come out from it.
16And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony that I shall give thee.
17And thou shalt make a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
18And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold; of beaten work shalt thou make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat.
19And make one cherub at the end of the one side, and one cherub at the end of the other side; out of the mercy-seat shall ye make the cherubim at the two ends thereof.
20And the cherubim shall stretch out their wings over it, covering over with their wings the mercy-seat, and their faces opposite to one another: toward the mercy-seat shall the faces of the cherubim be turned.
21And thou shalt put the mercy-seat above on the ark, and shalt put in the ark the testimony that I shall give thee.
22And there will I meet with thee, and will speak with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, everything that I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
23And thou shalt make a table of acacia-wood, two cubits the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
24And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make upon it a border of gold round about.
25And thou shalt make for it a margin of a handbreadth round about, and shalt make a border of gold for the margin thereof round about.
26And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings at the four corners that are on the four feet thereof.
27Close to the margin shall the rings be, as receptacles of the staves to carry the table.
28And thou shalt make the staves of acacia-wood, and overlay them with gold; and the table shall be carried upon them.
29And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and cups thereof, and goblets thereof, and bowls thereof, with which to pour out: of pure gold shalt thou make them.
30And thou shalt set upon the table showbread before me continually.
31And thou shalt make a lamp-stand of pure gold; of beaten work shall the lamp-stand be made: its base and its shaft, its cups, its knobs, and its flowers shall be of the same.
32And six branches shall come out of the sides thereof—three branches of the lamp-stand out of one side thereof, and three branches of the lamp-stand out of the other side thereof;
33three cups shaped like almonds in the one branch, a knob and a flower: and three cups shaped like almonds in the other branch, a knob and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the lamp-stand.
34And in the lamp-stand four cups shaped like almonds, its knobs and its flowers;
35and a knob under two branches of it, and again a knob under two branches of it, and again a knob under two branches of it, for the six branches that proceed out of the lamp-stand.
36Their knobs and their branches shall be of itself—all of one beaten work of pure gold.
37And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof, and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may shine out before it;
38and the snuffers thereof, and the snuff-trays thereof, of pure gold.
39Of a talent of pure gold shall they make it, with all these utensils.
40And see that thou make them according to their pattern, which hath been shown to thee in the mountain.
1And thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of twined byssus, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubim of artistic work shalt thou make them.
2The length of one curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits—one measure for all the curtains.
3Five of the curtains shall be coupled one to another, and the other five curtains coupled one to another.
4And thou shalt make loops of blue on the edge of the one curtain at the end of the coupling; and likewise shalt thou make them in the edge of the outermost curtain in the other coupling.
5Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops shalt thou make at the end of the curtain in the other coupling: the loops shall be opposite to one another.
6And thou shalt make fifty clasps of gold, and couple the curtains together with the clasps, that the tabernacle may be one whole.
7And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair for a tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make them.
8The length of one curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits—one measure for the eleven curtains.
9And thou shalt couple five of the curtains by themselves, and six of the curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the front of the tent.
10And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain of the coupling, and fifty loops on the edge of the curtain in the other coupling.
11And thou shalt make fifty clasps of copper, and put the clasps into the loops, and couple the tent, that it may be one whole.
12And that which remaineth hanging over of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remaineth, shall hang over the rear of the tabernacle.
13And the cubit on the one side, and the cubit on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.
14And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins over that.
15And the boards for the tabernacle thou shalt make of acacia-wood, standing up;
16ten cubits the length of the board, and a cubit and a half the breadth of one board.
17One board shall have two tenons, connected one with the other: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
18And thou shalt make the boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards on the south side southward.
19And thou shalt make forty bases of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons.
20And for the other side of the tabernacle on the north side there shall be twenty boards.
21And their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board, and two bases under another board.
22And for the rear of the tabernacle westward thou shalt make six boards.
23And two boards shalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle at the rear;
24and they shall be joined beneath, and together shall be united at the top thereof to one ring: thus shall it be for them both; they shall be for the two corners.
25And there shall be eight boards, and their bases, of silver, sixteen bases; two bases under one board, and two bases under another board.
26And thou shalt make bars of acacia-wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,
27and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle at the rear westward;
28and the middle bar in the midst of the boards reaching from one end to the other.
29And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold, and make of gold their rings, the receptacles of the bars, and shalt overlay the bars with gold.
30And thou shalt set up the tabernacle according to its fashion, as hath been shown thee on the mountain.
31And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus; of artistic work shall it be made, with cherubim.
32And thou shalt attach it to four pillars of acacia-wood overlaid with gold, their hooks of gold; they shall be on four bases of silver.
33And thou shalt bring the veil under the clasps, and bring in thither, inside the veil, the ark of the testimony; and the curtain shall make a division to you between the holy place and the holiest of all.
34And thou shalt put the mercy-seat on the ark of the testimony in the holiest of all.
35And thou shalt set the table outside the veil, and the lamp-stand opposite to the table on the side of the tabernacle southward; and thou shalt put the table on the north side.
36And thou shalt make for the entrance of the tent a curtain of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus, of embroidery.
37And thou shalt make for the curtain five pillars of acacia-wood, and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall be of gold; and thou shalt cast five bases of copper for them.
1And thou shalt make the altar of acacia-wood, five cubits the length, and five cubits the breadth; the altar shall be square; and the height thereof three cubits.
2And thou shalt make its horns at the four corners thereof; its horns shall be of itself; and thou shalt overlay it with copper.
3And thou shalt make its pots to cleanse it of the fat, its shovels, and its bowls, and its forks, and its firepans; for all the utensils thereof thou shalt employ copper.
4And thou shalt make for it a grating of network of copper; and on the net shalt thou make four copper rings at its four corners;
5and thou shalt put it under the ledge of the altar beneath, and the net shall be to the very middle of the altar.
6And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of acacia-wood, and overlay them with copper.
7And its staves shall be put into the rings, that the staves may be on both sides of the altar, when it is carried.
8Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it hath been shown thee on the mountain, so shall they make it.
9And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle. On the south side, southward, hangings for the court of twined byssus; a hundred cubits the length for the one side,
10and the twenty pillars thereof, and their twenty bases of copper, the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.
11And likewise on the north side in length, hangings a hundred cubits long, and its twenty pillars, and their twenty bases of copper; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.
12—And the breadth of the court on the west side, hangings of fifty cubits; their pillars ten, and their bases ten.
13—And the breadth of the court on the east side, eastward, fifty cubits;
14the hangings on the one wing, of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their bases three.
15And on the other wing hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their bases three.
16—And for the gate of the court a curtain of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus, embroidered with needlework; their pillars four, and their bases four.
17All the pillars of the court round about shall be fastened together with rods of silver; their hooks of silver, and their bases of copper.
18The length of the court shall be a hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty everywhere, and the height five cubits of twined byssus; and their bases of copper.
19All the utensils of the tabernacle for the service thereof and all the pegs thereof, and all the pegs of the court shall be of copper.
20And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee olive oil, pure, beaten, for the light, to light the lamp continually.
21In the tent of meeting outside the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall dress them from evening to morning before Jehovah: it is an everlasting statute, for their generations, on the part of the children of Israel.
1And thou shalt take thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may serve me as priest—Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
2And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, for glory and for ornament.
3And thou shalt speak with all that are wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to hallow him, that he may serve me as priest.
4And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, and an ephod, and a cloak, and a checkered vest, a turban, and a girdle; and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may serve me as priest.
5And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus,
6and shall make the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, scarlet and twined byssus, of artistic work.
7It shall have two shoulder-pieces joined at the two ends thereof, where it is joined together.
8And the girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to its work of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet and twined byssus.
9And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the children of Israel:
10six of their names on the one stone, and the six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.
11According to the work of an engraver in stone, as the engravings of a seal, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel; surrounded by enclosures of gold shalt thou make them.
12And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulder-pieces of the ephod as stones of memorial for the children of Israel; and Aaron shall bear their names before Jehovah upon his two shoulders for a memorial.
13And thou shalt make enclosures of gold;
14and two chains of pure gold; of laced work shalt thou make them, of wreathen work, and fasten the wreathen chains to the enclosures.
15And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment of artistic work, like the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus shalt thou make it.
16Square shall it be, doubled; a span the length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof.
17And thou shalt set in it settings of stones—four rows of stones: one row, a sardoin, a topaz, and an emerald—the first row;
18and the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond;
19and the third row, an opal, an agate, and an amethyst;
20and the fourth row, a chrysolite, and an onyx, and a jasper; enclosed in gold shall they be in their settings.
21And the stones shall be according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, engraved as a seal: every one according to his name shall they be for the twelve tribes.
22And thou shalt make on the breastplate chains of laced work, of wreathen work, of pure gold.
23And thou shalt make on the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
24And thou shalt put the two wreathen cords of gold in the two rings on the ends of the breastplate;
25and the two ends of the two wreathen cords thou shalt fasten to the two enclosures, and shalt put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, on the front thereof.
26And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and shalt put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the border thereof, which faceth the ephod inwards.
27And two rings of gold shalt thou make, and shalt put them upon the two shoulder-pieces of the ephod underneath, to the front thereof just by the coupling thereof, above the girdle of the ephod.
28And they shall bind the breastplate with its rings to the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.
29And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment on his heart, when he goes in to the sanctuary, for a memorial before Jehovah continually.
30And thou shalt put into the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, that they may be upon Aaron's heart when he goeth in before Jehovah; and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before Jehovah continually.
31And thou shalt make the cloak of the ephod all of blue.
32And its opening for the head shall be in the midst thereof; there shall be a binding of woven work at its opening round about; as the opening of a coat of mail, it shall be in it—it shall not rend.
33And on the skirts thereof thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, round about the skirts thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
34a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, in the skirts of the cloak round about.
35And it shall be on Aaron for service; that his sound may be heard when he goeth into the sanctuary before Jehovah, and when he cometh out, that he may not die.
36And thou shalt make a thin plate of pure gold, and engrave on it, as the engravings of a seal, Holiness to Jehovah!
37And thou shalt put it on a lace of blue, and it shall be upon the turban—upon the front of the turban shall it be.
38And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all gifts of their holy things; and it shall be continually on his forehead, that they may be accepted before Jehovah.
39And thou shalt weave the vest of byssus; and thou shalt make a turban of byssus; and thou shalt make a girdle of embroidery.
40And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make vests; and thou shalt make for them girdles; and high caps shalt thou make for them, for glory and for ornament.
41And thou shalt clothe with them Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and hallow them, that they may serve me as priests.
42And thou shalt make them linen trousers to cover the flesh of nakedness; from the loins even to the hips shall they reach.
43And they shall be upon Aaron and his sons when they enter into the tent of meeting, or when they come near to the altar to serve in the sanctuary; that they may not bear iniquity and die—an everlasting statute for him and his seed after him.
1And this is the thing which thou shalt do to them to hallow them, that they may serve me as priests: take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,
2and unleavened bread, and unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil—of wheaten flour shalt thou make them.
3And thou shalt put them into one basket, and present them in the basket, with the bullock and the two rams.
4And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring near the entrance of the tent of meeting, and shalt bathe them with water.
5And thou shalt take the garments, and clothe Aaron with the vest, and the cloak of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and shalt gird him with the girdle of the ephod.
6And thou shalt put the turban upon his head, and fasten the holy diadem to the turban,
7and shalt take the anointing oil, and pour it on his head, and anoint him.
8And thou shalt bring his sons near, and clothe them with the vests.
9And thou shalt gird them with the girdle—Aaron and his sons, and bind the high caps on them; and the priesthood shall be theirs for an everlasting statute; and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons.
10And thou shalt present the bullock before the tent of meeting; and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock;
11and thou shalt slaughter the bullock before Jehovah, at the entrance of the tent of meeting;
12and thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it on the horns of the altar with thy finger, and shalt pour all the blood at the bottom of the altar.
13And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the net of the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar.
14And the flesh of the bullock, and its skin, and its dung, shalt thou burn with fire outside the camp: it is a sin-offering.
15And thou shalt take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram;
16and thou shalt slaughter the ram, and shalt take its blood, and sprinkle it on the altar round about.
17And thou shalt cut up the ram into its pieces, and wash its inwards, and its legs, and put them upon its pieces, and upon its head;
18and thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt-offering to Jehovah—a sweet odour; it is an offering by fire to Jehovah.
19And thou shalt take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon the head of the ram;
20and thou shalt slaughter the ram, and take of its blood, and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot; and thou shalt sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
21And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron, and on his garments, and on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him; and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.
22Also of the ram shalt thou take the fat, and the fat-tail, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the net of the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder—for it is a ram of consecration—
23and one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before Jehovah;
24and thou shalt put all this in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons, and shalt wave them as a wave-offering before Jehovah.
25And thou shalt receive them of their hand and burn them upon the altar over the burnt-offering, for a sweet odour before Jehovah: it is an offering by fire to Jehovah.
26And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of consecration which is for Aaron, and wave it as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and it shall be thy part.
27And thou shalt hallow the breast of the wave-offering, and the shoulder of the heave-offering, that hath been waved and heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons.
28And they shall be for Aaron and his sons, as an everlasting statute, on the part of the children of Israel; for it is a heave-offering; and it shall be a heave-offering on the part of the children of Israel of the sacrifices of their peace-offerings, as their heave-offering to Jehovah.
29And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons' after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
30The son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tent of meeting to serve in the sanctuary.
31And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and boil its flesh in a holy place.
32And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
33They shall eat the things with which the atonement was made, to consecrate and to hallow them; but a stranger shall not eat of them, for they are holy.
34And if any of the flesh of the consecration, and of the bread, remain until the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, for it is holy.
35And thus shalt thou do to Aaron, and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.
36And thou shalt offer every day a bullock as a sin-offering for atonement; and the altar shalt thou cleanse from sin, by making atonement for it, and shalt anoint it, to hallow it.
37Seven days shalt thou make atonement for the altar and hallow it; and the altar shall be most holy: whatever toucheth the altar shall be holy.
38And this is what thou shalt offer upon the altar—two lambs of the first year, day by day continually.
39The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer between the two evenings.
40And with the one lamb a tenth part of wheaten flour mingled with beaten oil, a fourth part of a hin; and a drink-offering, a fourth part of a hin of wine.
41And the second lamb shalt thou offer between the two evenings; as the oblation in the morning, and as its drink-offering shalt thou offer with this, for a sweet odour, an offering by fire to Jehovah.
42It shall be a continual burnt-offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of meeting before Jehovah, where I will meet with you, to speak there with thee.
43And there will I meet with the children of Israel; and it shall be hallowed by my glory.
44And I will hallow the tent of meeting, and the altar; and I will hallow Aaron and his sons, that they may serve me as priests.
45And I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel, and will be their God.
46And they shall know that I am Jehovah their God, who have brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, to dwell in their midst: I am Jehovah their God.
1And thou shalt make an altar for the burning of incense: of acacia-wood shalt thou make it;
2a cubit the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof—square shall it be; and two cubits its height; of itself shall be its horns.
3And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make upon it a border of gold round about.
4And two rings of gold shalt thou make for it under its border; by its two corners shalt thou make them, on the two sides thereof; and they shall be for receptacles for the staves, with which to carry it.
5And thou shalt make the staves of acacia-wood, and overlay them with gold.
6And thou shalt put it in front of the veil which is before the ark of the testimony in front of the mercy-seat which is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.
7And Aaron shall burn thereon fragrant incense: every morning, when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn the incense.
8And when Aaron lighteth the lamps between the two evenings, he shall burn the incense—a continual incense before Jehovah throughout your generations.
9Ye shall offer up no strange incense thereon, nor burnt-offering, nor oblation; neither shall ye pour drink-offering thereon.
10And Aaron shall make atonement for its horns once in the year: with the blood of the sin-offering of atonement shall he make atonement for it, once in the year, throughout your generations: it is most holy to Jehovah.
11And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
12When thou shalt take the sum of the children of Israel according to those of them that are numbered, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul to Jehovah on their being numbered, that there be no plague among them on their being numbered.
13This shall they give—every one that passeth among them that are numbered—half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary, —twenty gerahs the shekel; a half shekel shall be the heave-offering for Jehovah.
14Every one that passeth among those that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give the heave-offering of Jehovah.
15The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when ye give the heave-offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls.
16And thou shalt take the atonement-money of the children of Israel, and devote it to the service of the tent of meeting; and it shall be a memorial to the children of Israel before Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls.
17And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
18Thou shalt also make a laver of copper, and its stand of copper, for washing; and thou shalt put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water in it.
19And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet out of it.
20When they go into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, that they may not die; or when they come near to the altar to serve, to burn an offering by fire to Jehovah.
21And they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they may not die; and it shall be an everlasting statute for them, for him and for his seed throughout their generations.
22And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
23And thou, take best spices—of liquid myrrh five hundred shekels , and of sweet cinnamon the half—two hundred and fifty, and of sweet myrtle two hundred and fifty,
24and of cassia five hundred, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin;
25and make of it an oil of holy ointment, a perfume of perfumery after the work of the perfumer: it shall be the holy anointing oil.
26And thou shalt anoint the tent of meeting with it, and the ark of the testimony,
27and the table and all its utensils, and the lamp-stand and its utensils, and the altar of incense,
28and the altar of burnt-offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand.
29And thou shalt hallow them, that they may be most holy: whatever toucheth them shall be holy.
30And Aaron and his sons thou shalt anoint, and shalt hallow them, that they may serve me as priests.
31And thou shalt speak to the children of Israel, saying, A holy anointing oil shall this be unto me throughout your generations.
32Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any like it, after the preparation of it: it is holy—holy shall it be unto you.
33Whoever compoundeth any like it, or whoever putteth any of it upon any strange thing, shall be cut off from his peoples.
34And Jehovah said to Moses, Take fragrant drugs—stacte, and onycha, and galbanum—fragrant drugs and pure frankincense; in like proportions shall it be.
35And thou shalt make it into incense, a perfume, after the work of the perfumer, salted, pure, holy.
36And thou shalt beat some of it to powder, and put some of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.
37And the incense that thou shalt make, ye shall not make for yourselves according to the proportions of it; it shall be unto thee holy to Jehovah.
38Whoever maketh like unto it, to smell it, shall be cut off from his peoples.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
3and have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in every work,
4to devise artistic work—to work in gold, and in silver, and in copper,
5and in cutting of stones, for setting, and for carving of timber—to work in all manner of work.
6And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of every one that is wise-hearted have I given wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee—
7the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy-seat that is thereupon, and all the utensils of the tent,
8and the table and its utensils, and the pure lamp-stand and all its utensils, and the altar of incense;
9and the altar of burnt-offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand;
10and the garments of service, both the holy garments of Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests;
11and the anointing oil, and the incense of fragrant drugs for the sanctuary: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
12And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
13And thou, speak thou unto the children of Israel, saying, Surely my Sabbaths shall ye keep; for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that ye may know that it is I, Jehovah, who do hallow you.
14Keep the Sabbath, therefore; for it is holy unto you; every one that profaneth it shall certainly be put to death: yea, whoever doeth work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his peoples.
15Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, holy to Jehovah: whoever doeth work on the Sabbath day shall certainly be put to death.
16And the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations— it is an everlasting covenant.
17It shall be a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
18And he gave to Moses, when he had ended speaking with him on mount Sinai, the two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people collected together to Aaron, and said to him, Up, make us a god, who will go before us; for this Moses, the man that has brought us up out of the land of Egypt, —we do not know what is become of him!
2And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden rings that are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.
3Then all the people broke off the golden rings that were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.
4And he took them out of their hand, and fashioned it with a chisel and made of it a molten calf: and they said, This is thy god, Israel, who has brought thee up out of the land of Egypt!
5And Aaron saw it , and built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to Jehovah!
6And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered up burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to sport.
7Then Jehovah said to Moses, Away, go down! for thy people, which thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, is acting corruptly.
8They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them: they have made themselves a molten calf, and have bowed down to it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, This is thy god, Israel, who has brought thee up out of the land of Egypt!
9And Jehovah said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people.
10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of thee a great nation.
11And Moses besought Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel , thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.
14And Jehovah repented of the evil that he had said he would do to his people.
15And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, with the two tables of the testimony in his hand—tables written on both their sides: on this side and on that were they written.
16And the tables were God's work, and the writing was God's writing, engraven on the tables.
17And Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, and said to Moses, There is a shout of war in the camp.
18And he said, It is not the sound of a shout of victory, neither is it the sound of a shout of defeat: it is the noise of alternate singing I hear.
19And it came to pass, when he came near the camp, and saw the calf and the dancing, that Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
20And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
21And Moses said to Aaron, What has this people done to thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin on them?
22And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord burn! thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
23And they said to me, Make us a god, who will go before us; for this Moses, the man that has brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what is become of him!
24And I said to them, Who has gold? They broke it off, and gave it me, and I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
25And Moses saw the people how they were stripped; for Aaron had stripped them to their shame before their adversaries.
26And Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, He that is for Jehovah, let him come to me. And all the sons of Levi gathered to him.
27And he said to them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Put every man his sword upon his hip; go and return from gate to gate through the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his friend, and every man his neighbour.
28And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses; and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
29And Moses said, Consecrate yourselves today to Jehovah, yea, every man with his son, and with his brother, and bring on yourselves a blessing today.
30And it came to pass the next day, that Moses said to the people, Ye have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to Jehovah: perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.
31And Moses returned to Jehovah, and said, Alas, this people has sinned a great sin, and they have made themselves a god of gold!
32And now, if thou wilt forgive their sin...but if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book that thou hast written.
33And Jehovah said to Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
35And Jehovah plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
1And Jehovah said to Moses, Depart and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it.
2(and I will send an angel before thee, and dispossess the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite,)
3into a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in the midst of thee, for thou art a stiff-necked people, —lest I consume thee on the way.
4And when the people heard this evil word, they mourned; and no man put on his ornaments.
5Now Jehovah had said to Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiff-necked people: in one moment I will come up into the midst of thee and will consume thee. And now put off thine ornaments from thee, and I will know what I will do unto thee.
6And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments at mount Horeb.
7And Moses took the tent, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And it came to pass that every one who sought Jehovah went out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp.
8And it came to pass, when Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose up, and stood every man at the entrance of his tent, and they looked after Moses until he entered into the tent.
9And it came to pass when Moses entered into the tent, the pillar of cloud descended, and stood at the entrance of the tent, and Jehovah talked with Moses.
10And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent; and all the people rose and worshipped, every man at the entrance of his tent.
11And Jehovah spoke with Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his attendant, Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from within the tent.
12And Moses said to Jehovah, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thine.
14And he said, my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16And how shall it be known then that I have found grace in thine eyes—I and thy people? Is it not by thy going with us? so shall we be distinguished, I and thy people, from every people that is on the face of the earth.
17And Jehovah said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou has spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by thy name.
18And he said, Let me, I pray thee, see thy glory.
19And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thy face, and I will proclaim the name of Jehovah before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
20And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for Man shall not see me, and live.
21And Jehovah said, Behold, there is a place by me: there shalt thou stand on the rock.
22And it shall come to pass, when my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand, until I have passed by.
23And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see me from behind; but my face shall not be seen.
1And Jehovah said to Moses, Hew for thyself two tables of stone like the first; and I will write upon the tables the words that were upon the first tables, which thou hast broken.
2And be ready for the morning, and go up in the morning to mount Sinai, and stand there before me on the top of the mountain.
3And let no man go up with thee, neither shall any man be seen on all the mountain; neither shall sheep and oxen feed in front of that mountain.
4And he hewed two tables of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up to mount Sinai, as Jehovah had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
5And Jehovah came down in the cloud, and stood beside him there, and proclaimed the name of Jehovah.
6And Jehovah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7keeping mercy unto thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.
8And Moses made haste, and bowed his head to the earth and worshipped,
9and said, If indeed I have found grace in thine eyes, Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in our midst; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for an inheritance!
10And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels that have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people in the midst of which thou art shall see the work of Jehovah; for a terrible thing it shall be that I will do with thee.
11Observe what I command thee this day: behold, I will drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
12Take heed to thyself, that thou make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which thou shalt come, lest it be a snare in the midst of thee;
13but ye shall demolish their altars, shatter their statues, and hew down their Asherahs.
14For thou shalt worship no other God; for Jehovah—Jealous is his name—is a jealous God;
15lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and then, when they go a whoring after their gods, and sacrifice unto their gods, thou be invited, and eat of their sacrifice,
16and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
17—Thou shalt make thyself no molten gods.
18—The feast of the unleavened bread shalt thou keep: seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded thee, at the appointed time of the month Abib; for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
19—All that openeth the womb is mine; and all the cattle that is born a male, the firstling of ox and sheep.
20But the firstling of an ass thou shalt ransom with a lamb; and if thou ransom it not, then shalt thou break its neck. All the first-born of thy sons thou shalt ransom; and none shall appear before me empty.
21—Six days shalt thou work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; in ploughing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
22—And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first-fruits of wheat-harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the turn of the year.
23Thrice in the year shall all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, the God of Israel.
24For I will dispossess the nations before thee, and enlarge thy border, and no man shall desire thy land, when thou goest up to appear before the face of Jehovah thy God thrice in the year.
25—Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the Passover be left over night until the morning.
26—The first of the first-fruits of thy land shalt thou bring into the house of Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
27And Jehovah said to Moses, Write thee these words; for after the tenor of these words have I made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
28—And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread, and drank no water. —And he wrote on the tables the words of the covenant, the ten words.
29And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai—and the two tables of testimony were in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mountain—that Moses knew not that the skin of his face shone through his talking with him.
30And Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.
31And Moses called to them; and they turned to him, —Aaron and all the principal men of the assembly; and Moses talked with them.
32And afterwards, all the children of Israel came near; and he gave them in commandment all that Jehovah had spoken with him on mount Sinai.
33And Moses ended speaking with them; and he had put on his face a veil.
34And when Moses went in before Jehovah to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel what he was commanded.
35And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone; and Moses put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
1And Moses collected all the assembly of the children of Israel, and said to them, These are the things which Jehovah has commanded, to do them.
2Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a Sabbath of rest to Jehovah: whoever does work on it shall be put to death.
3Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings upon the Sabbath day.
4And Moses spoke to all the assembly of the children of Israel, saying, This is the word which Jehovah has commanded, saying,
5Take from among you a heave-offering to Jehovah: every one whose heart is willing, let him bring it, Jehovah's heave-offering—gold, and silver, and copper,
6and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and byssus, and goats' hair ,
7and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and acacia-wood,
8and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the incense of fragrant drugs;
9and onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate.
10And all who are wise-hearted among you shall come and make all that Jehovah has commanded:
11the tabernacle, its tent, and its covering, its clasps, and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;
12the ark, and its staves; the mercy-seat, and the veil of separation;
13the table and its staves, and all its utensils, and the showbread;
14and the lamp-stand for the light, and its utensils, and its lamps, and the oil for the light;
15and the altar of incense, and its staves; and the anointing-oil, and the incense of fragrant drugs; and the entrance-curtain at the entrance of the tabernacle;
16the altar of burnt-offering, and the copper grating for it, its staves, and all its utensils; the laver and its stand;
17the hangings of the court, its pillars, and its bases, and the curtains of the gate of the court;
18the pegs of the tabernacle, and the pegs of the court, and their cords;
19the garments of service, to do service in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests.
20And all the assembly of the children of Israel departed from before Moses.
21And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought Jehovah's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
22And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto Jehovah.
23And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers' skins, brought them.
24Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought Jehovah's offering: and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it.
25And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
26And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' hair.
27And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod and for the breastplate:
28and spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
29The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto Jehovah, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which Jehovah had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
30And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
31and he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;
32and to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
33and in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.
34And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.
35Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
1Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every man that was wise-hearted, in whom Jehovah had put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work of the service of the sanctuary—according to all that Jehovah had commanded.
2And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every man that was wise-hearted, in whose heart God had put wisdom, every one whose heart moved him to come to the work to do it.
3And they took from Moses every heave-offering that the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it. And they still brought him voluntary offerings morning by morning.
4And all the wise men that wrought all the work of the sanctuary came, every man from his work which they wrought,
5and spoke to Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work that Jehovah commanded to be done.
6Then Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed through the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the heave-offering of the sanctuary! So the people were restrained from bringing;
7for the work they had was sufficient for all the work to do it, and it was too much.
8And every wise-hearted man among those that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of twined byssus, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubim of artistic work did he make them.
9The length of one curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits—one measure for all the curtains.
10And he coupled five of the curtains one to another, and the other five curtains coupled he one to another.
11And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain at the edge of the coupling; he did likewise in the edge of the outermost curtain in the other coupling.
12He made fifty loops in one curtain, and he made fifty loops at the end of the curtain that was in the other coupling: the loops were opposite to one another.
13And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains together with the clasps, so that the tabernacle became one.
14And he made curtains of goats' hair for the tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains did he make them.
15The length of one curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits the breadth of one curtain—one measure for the eleven curtains.
16And he coupled five of the curtains by themselves, and six of the curtains by themselves.
17And he made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain in the coupling, and fifty loops made he on the edge of the curtain in the other coupling.
18And he made fifty clasps of copper to couple the tent, that it might be one.
19And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins above that.
20And he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia-wood, standing up;
21ten cubits the length of the boards, and one cubit and a half the breadth of one board;
22two tenons in one board, connected one with the other: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
23And he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards for the south side southward;
24and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards, two bases under one board, for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons.
25And for the other side of the tabernacle, on the side toward the north, he made twenty boards,
26and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one board, and two bases under another board.
27And at the rear of the tabernacle, westward, he made six boards;
28and he made two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the rear;
29and they were joined beneath, and were coupled together at the top thereof into one ring: thus he did to both of them in both the corners;
30and there were eight boards, and their silver bases: sixteen bases, under every board two bases.
31—And he made bars of acacia-wood: five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,
32and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle at the rear, westward.
33And he made the middle bar in the midst of the boards reach from one end to the other.
34And he overlaid the boards with gold; and made their rings of gold as receptacles for the bars; and overlaid the bars with gold.
35And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus: of artistic work he made it with cherubim.
36And he made four pillars of acacia -wood for it, and overlaid them with gold; their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four bases of silver.
37And he made a curtain for the entrance of the tent of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus, of embroidery;
38and its five pillars with their hooks; and he overlaid their capitals and their connecting-rods with gold; and their five bases were of copper.
1And Bezaleel made the ark of acacia-wood; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
2And he overlaid it with pure gold inside and outside, and made a border of gold upon it round about.
3And he cast for it four rings of gold, for its four corners: two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.
4And he made staves of acacia-wood and overlaid them with gold.
5And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark.
6—And he made a mercy-seat of pure gold; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
7And he made two cherubim of gold; of beaten work did he make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat;
8one cherub at the end of one side, and one cherub at the end of the other side; out of the mercy-seat he made the two cherubim at the two ends thereof.
9And the cherubim spread out their wings over it, covering over with their wings the mercy-seat; and their faces were opposite to one another: the faces of the cherubim were turned toward the mercy-seat.
10And he made the table of acacia-wood; two cubits the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made upon it a border of gold round about.
12And he made for it a margin of a hand-breadth round about; and made a border of gold for the margin thereof round about.
13And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings on the four corners that were on the four feet thereof.
14Close to the margin were the rings, as receptacles of the staves to carry the table.
15And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with gold, to carry the table.
16And he made the utensils that were on the table, the dishes thereof, and the cups thereof, and the bowls thereof, and the goblets with which to pour out, of pure gold.
17And he made the candlestick of pure gold; of beaten work he made the candlestick: its base, and its shaft, its cups, its knobs, and its flowers were of itself.
18And six branches went out of the sides thereof—three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof;
19there were three cups shaped like almonds in the one branch, a knob and a flower; and three cups shaped like almonds in the other branch, a knob and a flower: so in the six branches which went out of the candlestick.
20And in the candlestick were four cups, shaped like almonds, its knobs, and its flowers;
21and a knob under two branches thereof, and again a knob under two branches thereof, and again a knob under two branches thereof, for the six branches which went out of it.
22Their knobs and their branches were of itself—all of one beaten work of pure gold.
23And he made the seven lamps thereof, and the snuffers thereof, and the snuff-trays thereof, of pure gold.
24Of a talent of pure gold he made it, and all its utensils.
25And he made the altar of incense of acacia-wood; a cubit the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, square, and two cubits the height thereof: its horns were of itself.
26And he overlaid it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and made upon it a border of gold round about.
27And he made two rings of gold for it under its border, by its two corners, on the two sides thereof, as receptacles for the staves with which to carry it.
28And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with gold.
29And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of fragrant drugs, according to the work of the perfumer.
1And he made the altar of burnt-offering of acacia-wood; five cubits the length thereof, and five cubits the breadth thereof, square, and three cubits the height thereof.
2And he made its horns on the four corners thereof; its horns were of itself; and he overlaid it with copper.
3And he made all the utensils of the altar: the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls, the forks, and the firepans; all its utensils made he of copper.
4And he made for the altar a grating of network of copper under its ledge from beneath, to the very middle of it.
5And he cast four rings for the four corners of the grating of copper, as receptacles for the staves.
6And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with copper.
7And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the altar, with which to carry it. Hollow with boards did he make it.
8And he made the laver of copper, and its stand of copper, of the mirrors of the crowds of women who crowded before the entrance of the tent of meeting.
9And he made the court. On the south side southward, the hangings of the court were of twined byssus, a hundred cubits;
10their pillars twenty, and their bases twenty, of copper; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.
11And on the north side, a hundred cubits; their pillars twenty, and their bases twenty, of copper; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.
12And on the west side, hangings of fifty cubits; their pillars ten, and their bases ten; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.
13And for the east side, eastward, fifty cubits;
14the hangings on the one wing of fifteen cubits, their pillars three, and their bases three;
15and on the other wing, on this side as on that side of the gate of the court, hangings of fifteen cubits, their pillars three, and their bases three.
16All the hangings of the court round about were of twined byssus;
17and the bases of the pillars of copper, the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver, and the overlaying of their capitals of silver; and all the pillars of the court were fastened together with rods of silver.
18—And the curtain of the gate of the court was of embroidery of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus; and the length was twenty cubits, and the height like the breadth, five cubits, just as the hangings of the court;
19and their pillars four, and their bases four, of copper; their hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their capitals and their connecting-rods of silver.
20And all the pegs for the tabernacle and for the court round about were of copper.
21These are the things numbered of the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony, which were counted, according to the commandment of Moses, by the service of the Levites, under the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.
22And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that Jehovah had commanded Moses;
23and with him Aholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and artificer, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in scarlet, and in byssus.
24All the gold that it took for the work in all the work of the sanctuary—the gold of the wave-offering, was twenty-nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
25And the silver of them that were numbered of the assembly was a hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary:
26a bekah the head—half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that passed the numbering from twenty years old and upward, of the six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
27And there were a hundred talents of silver for casting the bases of the sanctuary, and the bases of the veil; a hundred bases of a hundred talents, a talent for a base.
28And of the thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels he made the hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their capitals, and fastened them with rods.
29And the copper of the wave-offering was seventy talents, and two thousand four hundred shekels.
30And he made with it the bases for the entrance of the tent of meeting, and the copper altar, and the copper grating for it, and all the utensils of the altar.
31And the bases of the court round about, and the bases of the gate of the court, and all the pegs of the tabernacle, and all the pegs of the court round about.
1And of the blue and purple and scarlet they made garments of service, for service in the sanctuary, and made the holy garments for Aaron; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
2And he made the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus.
3And they beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it artistically into the blue, and into the purple, and into the scarlet, and into the byssus.
4They made shoulder-pieces for it, joining it: at its two ends was it joined together.
5And the girdle of his ephod, which was on it, was of the same, according to its work, of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
6And they wrought the onyx stones mounted in enclosures of gold, engraved with the engravings of a seal, according to the names of the sons of Israel.
7And he put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, as stones of memorial for the children of Israel; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
8And he made the breastplate of artistic work, like the work of the ephod, of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus.
9It was square; double did they make the breastplate, a span the length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof, doubled.
10And they set in it four rows of stones: one row, a sardoin, a topaz, and an emerald—the first row;
11and the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond;
12and the third row, an opal, an agate, and an amethyst;
13and the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper; mounted in enclosures of gold in their settings.
14And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, engraved as a seal, every one according to his name, for the twelve tribes.
15And they made on the breastplate chains of laced work of wreathen work, of pure gold.
16And they made two settings of gold, and two gold rings, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
17And they put the two wreathen cords of gold in the two rings on the ends of the breastplate;
18and the two ends of the two wreathen cords they fastened to the two settings, and put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, on the front thereof.
19And they made two rings of gold, and put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the border thereof, which faceth the ephod inwards.
20And they made two rings of gold, and put them upon the two shoulder-pieces of the ephod underneath, to the front thereof, just by the coupling thereof, above the girdle of the ephod.
21And they bound the breastplate with its rings to the rings of the ephod with lace of blue, that it might be above the girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate might not be loosed from the ephod; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
22And he made the cloak of the ephod of woven work, all of blue;
23and the opening of the cloak in its middle, as the opening of a coat of mail; a binding was round about the opening, that it should not rend.
24And they made on the skirts of the cloak pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet, twined.
25And they made bells of pure gold, and put the bells between the pomegranates, in the skirts of the cloak, round about, between the pomegranates:
26a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, in the skirts of the cloak round about, for service; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
27And they made the vests of byssus of woven work, for Aaron, and for his sons;
28and the turban of byssus; and the ornamental caps, of byssus; and the linen trousers, of twined byssus;
29and the girdle, of twined byssus, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, of embroidery; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
30And they made the thin plate, the holy diadem, of pure gold, and wrote on it with the writing of the engravings of a seal, Holiness to Jehovah!
31And they fastened to it a lace of blue, to fasten it on the turban above; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
32And all the labour of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was ended; and the children of Israel had done it according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses—so had they done it.
33And they brought the tabernacle to Moses—the tent, and all its utensils, its clasps, its boards, its bars, and its pillars, and its bases;
34and the covering of rams' skins dyed red, and the covering of badgers' skins, and the veil of separation;
35the ark of the testimony, and its staves, and the mercy-seat;
36the table, all its utensils, and the showbread;
37the pure candlestick, its lamps, the lamps set in order, and all its utensils, and the oil for the light;
38and the golden altar, and the anointing oil, and the incense of fragrant drugs; and the curtain for the entrance of the tent;
39the copper altar, and the copper grating that was for it, its staves and all its utensils; the laver and its stand;
40the hangings of the court, its pillars, and its bases; and the curtain for the gate of the court, its cords, and its pegs; and all the vessel's of service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting;
41the garments of service, for service in the sanctuary; the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons' garments, to serve as priests.
42According to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses, so had the children of Israel done all the labour.
43And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it as Jehovah had commanded—so had they done it; and Moses blessed them.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2On the day of the first month, on the first of the month, shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
3And thou shalt put in it the ark of the testimony, and shalt cover the ark with the veil.
4And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it. And thou shalt bring in the candlestick and light its lamps.
5And thou shalt set the golden altar for the incense before the ark of the testimony; and hang up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle.
6And thou shalt set the altar of burnt-offering before the entrance of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
7And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water in it.
8And thou shalt fix the court round about, and hang up the curtain at the gate of the court.
9And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shalt hallow it, and all its utensils; and it shall be holy.
10And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its utensils; and thou shalt hallow the altar, and the altar shall be most holy.
11And thou shalt anoint the laver and its stand, and hallow it.
12And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons near, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and bathe them with water.
13And thou shalt clothe Aaron with the holy garments, and anoint him, and hallow him, that he may serve me as priest.
14And thou shalt bring his sons near, and clothe them with vests.
15And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may serve me as priests. And their anointing shall be to them an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
16And Moses did so: as Jehovah had commanded him, so did he.
17And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first of the month, that the tabernacle was set up.
18And Moses set up the tabernacle, and put in its bases, and fixed its boards, and put in its bars, and set up its pillars.
19And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above over it; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
20And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and put the staves in the ark, and put the mercy-seat above on the ark.
21And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and hung up the veil of separation, and covered the ark of the testimony; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
22And he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the side of the tabernacle northward, outside the veil,
23and arranged the bread in order upon it before Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
24And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, opposite to the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
25And he lighted the lamps before Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
26And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil.
27And he burnt on it fragrant incense; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
28And he hung up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle.
29And he put the altar of burnt-offering at the entrance to the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt-offering and the oblation; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
30And he set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing.
31And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet out of it:
32when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they drew near to the altar, they washed; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
33And he set up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the curtain of the gate of the court. And so Moses finished the work.
34And the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
35And Moses could not enter into the tent of meeting, for the cloud abode on it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
36And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel journeyed in all their journeys.
37And if the cloud were not taken up, then they did not journey until the day that it was taken up.
38For the cloud of Jehovah was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, before the eyes of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys. (Ex. 19:1‑40:38)
Lev. 1:1‑27:34• 1And Jehovah called unto Moses and spoke to him out of the tent of meeting, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When a man of you presenteth an offering to Jehovah, ye shall present your offering of the cattle, of the herd and of the flock.
3If his offering [be] a burnt offering of the herd, he shall present it a male, perfect; at the entrance of the tent of meeting he shall present it for his acceptance before Jehovah.
4And he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to atone for him.
5And he shall slay the bullock before Jehovah; and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall present the blood and sprinkle the blood round about on the altar that [is at] the entrance of the tent of meeting.
6And he shall flay the burnt offering and cut it up into its pieces.
7And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar, and lay wood in order on the fire;
8and Aaron's sons, the priests shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order on the wood that [is] on the fire which [is] on the altar.
9But its inwards and its legs shall he wash in water; and the priest shall burn all on the altar, a burnt offering, a fire-offering of sweet odour to Jehovah.
10And if his offering be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt-offering, he shall present it a male perfect.
11And he shall slay it on the side of the altar northward before Jehovah; and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood on the altar round about.
12And he shall cut it into its pieces, and its head, and its fat. And the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire on the altar;
13but the inwards and the legs shall be washed with water. And the priest shall present all and burn on the altar; it is a burnt-offering, a fire-offering of sweet savour to Jehovah.
14And if his offering to Jehovah be a burnt-offering of fowls, then he shall present his offering of turtle-doves or of young pigeons.
15And the priest shall bring it near to the altar, and wring off its head, and burn it on the altar; and its blood shall be drained out at the side of the altar.
16And he shall take away its crop with its feathers and cast it beside the altar on the east into the place of the ashes;
17and he shall split it at its wings, [but] not divide [it] asunder; and the priest shall burn it on the altar on the wood that is on the fire: it is a burnt-offering, a fire-offering of sweet savour to Jehovah.
1And when any one [a soul] presents an oblation to Jehovah, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon.
2And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests; and he shall take there-out his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial thereof on the altar, a fire-offering of sweet odour to Jehovah.
3And the remainder of the oblation shall be Aaron's and his sons': [it is] most holy of Jehovah's fire-offerings.
4And when thou presentest an oblation of a meal-offering a baking of the oven, [it shall be] unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.
5And if thine oblation [be] a meal-offering on the plate, it shall be fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil.
6Thou shalt part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it [is] a meal-offering.
7And if thine oblation [be] a meal-offering in the earthen pan , it shall be made of fine flour with oil.
8And thou shalt bring the oblation that is made of these things to Jehovah; and it shall be presented to the priest, and he shall bring it to the altar.
9And the priest shall take from the meal-offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn [it] on the altar, a fire-offering of a sweet odour to Jehovah.
10And the remainder of the meal-offering [shall be] Aaron's and his sons' [it is] most holy of Jehovah's fire-offerings.
11No meal-offering which ye shall offer to Jehovah shall be made with leaven; for ye shall burn no leaven and no honey as a fire-offering to Jehovah.
12As to offering of first fruits, ye shall offer them to Jehovah; but they shall not come up for a sweet odour on the altar.
13And every offering of thy meal-offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meal-offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
14And if thou offer an oblation of firstfruits to Jehovah, thou shalt offer for thine oblation of thy firstfruits green ears of corn parched with fire, corn beaten out of full ear.
15And thou shalt put oil on it, and lay frankincense thereon; it is an oblation.
16And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, of the beaten corn thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; [it is] a fire-offering to Jehovah.
1And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offerings, if he present of the herd whether male or female, he shall present it without blemish before Jehovah.
2And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his oblation, and slaughter it at the entrance of the tent of meeting; and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle of the blood round about on the altar.
3And he shall present of the sacrifice of peace offerings a fire offering unto Jehovah: the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that is on the inwards,
4and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the net above the liver which he shall take away as far as the kidneys;
5and Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt offering which is on the wood that is upon the fire: a fire offering of sweet odour to Jehovah.
6And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace-offering to Jehovah be of small cattle, male or female, he shall present it without blemish.
7If he present a sheep for his offering, then he shall present it before Jehovah
8and he shall lay his hand on the head of it, and slaughter it before the tent of meeting. And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood of it on the altar round about
9And he shall present of the sacrifice of peace-offering an offering by fire to Jehovah; the fat thereof, the whole fat tail, he shall take it away close by the backbone, the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that [is] on the inwards,
10and the two kidneys and the fat that [is] on them which [is] by the flank, and the net above the liver, he shall take away as far as the kidneys;
11and the priest shall burn them on the altar, the food of the fire offering for a sweet odour.
12And if his offering [be] a goat, then he shall present it before Jehovah;
13and he shall lay his hand on the head of it, and slaughter it before the tent of meeting. And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood of it on the altar round about.
14And he shall present thereof his offering, a fire offering to Jehovah: the fat that covereth the inwards and all the fat that [is] on the inwards,
15and the two kidneys and the fat that [is] on them which [is] by the flank, and the net above the liver, he shall take away as far as the kidneys.
16And the priest shall burn them on the altar, the food of the fire offering for a sweet odour. All the fat [is] Jehovah's.
17[It is] an everlasting statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings: no fat and no blood shall ye eat.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying,
2Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin inadvertently against any of Jehovah's commandments, that ought not to be done, and do any of them;
3if the anointed priest sin to the trespass of the people, let him offer, for his sin which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish to Jehovah for a sin offering.
4And he shall bring the bullock to the entrance of the tent of meeting before Jehovah; and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the bullock, and slaughter the bullock before Jehovah.
5And the anointed priest shall take of the blood of the bullock, and bring it into the tent of meeting.
6And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle of the blood seven times before Jehovah, before the veil of the sanctuary.
7And the priest shall put of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Jehovah, which is in the tent of meeting; and he shall pour all the blood of the bullock at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
8And all the fat of the bullock of the sin offering he shall take off from it: the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards,
9and the two kidneys and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the net above the liver which he shall take away as far as the kidneys,
10as it is taken off from the ox of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of burnt offering.
11And the skin of the bullock, and all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, and its inwards and its dung,
12even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall it be burnt.
13And if the whole assembly of Israel err and the thing be hid from the eyes of the congregation, and they have done any of all the commandments of Jehovah which should not be done, and are guilty;
14and the sin wherein they have sinned against it is become known; then the congregation shall present a young bullock for the sin offering, and bring it before the tent of meeting.
15And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before Jehovah; and the bullock shall be slaughtered before Jehovah.
16And the anointed priest shall bring of the bullock's blood into the tent of meeting;
17and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Jehovah before the veil.
18And he shall put of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before Jehovah, which is in the tent of meeting; and he shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting.
19And all its fat shall he take off from it and burn it on the altar.
20And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock of the sin offering, so shall he do with this. And the priest shall make atonement for them; and it shall be forgiven them.
21And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bullock: it is a sin offering of the congregation.
22When a ruler sinneth and through inadvertence doeth any of all the things which Jehovah his God hath commanded not to be done, and is guilty;
23if his sin wherein he hath sinned come to his knowledge, he shall bring his offering, a buck of the goats, a male without blemish.
24And he shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and slaughter it at the place where they slaughter the burnt offering before Jehovah; it is a sin offering.
25And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out its blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.
26And he shall burn all its fat on the altar, as the fat from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall make an atonement for him from his sin; and it shall be forgiven him.
27And if one (a soul) of the people of the land sin through inadvertence in doing any things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and be guilty;
28if his sin which he hath sinned come to his knowledge, then he shall bring his offering a goat, a female without blemish for his sin which he hath sinned.
29And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and slaughter the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering.
30And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put [it] on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.
31And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it on the altar for a sweet odour to Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.
32And if he bring a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
33And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and slaughter it for a sin offering in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering.
34And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the bottom of the altar.
35And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar with the fire offerings to Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
1And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of an oath, and he is a witness whether he hath seen or known, if he do not inform, then he shall bear his iniquity.
2Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be the carcass of an unclean beast, or the carcass of unclean cattle, or the carcass of unclean creeping things, and it be hid from him, he also is unclean and guilty.
3Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, any uncleanness of him by which he is defiled, and it be hid from him, when he knoweth, then he shall be guilty.
4Or if a soul swear rashly with his lips, to do evil or to do good, in everything that a man shall say rashly with an oath, and it be hid from him, when he knoweth, then shall he be guilty in one of these.
5And it shall be when he shall be guilty in one of these, that he shall confess wherein he hath sinned;
6and he shall bring his trespass to Jehovah for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him from his sin.
7And if his hand be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring to Jehovah for his trespass which he hath sinned two turtle doves or two young pigeons; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
8And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and pinch off its head at the neck, but shall not divide it asunder;
9and he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering on the wall of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin-offering.
10And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering according to the ordinance. And the priest shall make atonement for him from his sin which he hath sinned; and it shall be forgiven him.
11But if his hand cannot attain to two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he that hath sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil on it, nor shall he put frankincense thereon, for it is a sin offering.
12And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, the memorial thereof and burn it on the altar with Jehovah's fire offering: it is a sin offering.
13And the priest shall make atonement for him from his sin which he hath sinned in one of them, and it shall be forgiven him; and it shall be the priest's as the oblation.
14And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
15If any one commit a perfidy, and sin inadvertently in the holy things of Jehovah, then he shall bring his trespass offering to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the flock, according to thine estimation by shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering.
16And he shall make restitution for what he hath done amiss in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest; and the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering; and it shall be forgiven him.
17And if any one sin or do against any of all the commandments of Jehovah what should not be done, and hath not known, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.
18And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock according to thine estimation for a trespass offering unto the priest; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his inadvertence wherein he sinned inadvertently, and knew it not; and it shall be forgiven him.
19It is a trespass offering: he is certainly guilty before Jehovah.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2If anyone sin, and commit a perfidy against Jehovah, and lie to his neighbour as to a matter of trust, or a loan, or a robbery, or a cheat to his neighbour;
3or have found what was lost and lieth therein, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein,
4then it shall be, if he hath sinned and hath trespassed that he shall restore what he robbed, or what he defrauded, or the trust entrusted to him, or the lost thing which he found,
5or all about which he swore falsely; and he shall restore it in the principal and shall add the fifth part more thereto; to whom it belongeth shall he give it on the day of his trespass-offering.
6And his trespass offering he shall bring to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the flock according to thy valuation as a trespass offering unto the priest.
7And the priest shall make atonement for him before Jehovah, and it shall be forgiven him concerning anything of all he did to trespass therein.
8And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying,
9Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This [is] the law of the burnt offering: this, the burnt offering, [shall be] on the hearth upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.
10And the priest shall put on his linen raiment, and his linen breeches shall he put on his flesh, and he shall take up the ashes to which the fire hath consumed the burnt offering upon the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar.
11And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place.
12And the fire upon the altar shall be kept burning on it, it shall not go out; and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it, and shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.
13Fire continual shall be kept burning upon the altar; it shall not go out.
14And this is the law of the meal offering; the sons of Aaron shall present it before Jehovah, before the altar.
15And he shall take of it his handful of the fine flour of the meal offering and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is on the meal offering, and shall burn [it] on the altar: a sweet odour of the memorial thereof to Jehovah.
16And the remainder thereof Aaron and his sons shall eat: unleavened shall it be eaten in a holy place; in the court of the tent of meeting shall they eat it.
17It shall not be baked with leaven. As their portion I have given it of my fire offerings: it is most holy, as the sin offering and as the trespass offering.
18All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it: an everlasting statute in your generations, from Jehovah's fire offerings; whatever toucheth these shall be holy.
19And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
20This [is] the offering of Aaron and his sons, which they shall present to Jehovah on the day when he is anointed: the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour, as a continual meal offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening.
21In a pan with oil it shall be made; saturated thou shalt bring it in; baken pieces of the meal offering shalt thou present, a sweet odour unto Jehovah.
22And the anointed priest that shall be in his stead from his sons, shall make it: an everlasting statute, it shall be wholly burnt unto Jehovah.
23And every meal offering of the priest shall be wholly burnt; it shall not be eaten.
24And Jehovah spake to Moses, saying,
25Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, This [is] the law of the sin offering. In the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, the sin offering shall be slaughtered before Jehovah: it [is] most holy.
26The priest that offereth it for sin shall eat it; it shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.
27Whatsoever toucheth the flesh thereof shall be holy; and if there be sprinkled of the blood thereof on a garment, that whereon it was sprinkled thou shalt wash in a holy place.
28But the earthen vessel wherein it was sodden shall be broken; and if it was sodden in a copper vessel it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water.
29Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it [is] most holy.
30And no sin offering whereof blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy [place] shall be eaten: it shall be burnt with fire.
1And this [is] the law of the trespass offering: it [is] most holy.
2In the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered shall the trespass offering be slaughtered; and the blood shall be sprinkled on the altar round about.
3And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof: the fat tail, and the fat that covereth the inwards,
4and the two kidneys, and the fat that [is] on them, which [is] by the flanks, and the net above the liver which he shall take as far as the kidneys.
5And the priest shall burn them on the altar, a fire offering to Jehovah: it [is] a trespass offering.
6Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: in a holy place shall it be eaten; it [is] most holy.
7As the sin offering, so is the trespass offering; one law [is] for them: it shall be the priest's that maketh atonement therewith.
8And the priest that offereth any man's burnt offering, the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered.
9And every meal offering that is baken in the oven, and all that is prepared in the cauldron and in the pan, shall be the priest's that offereth it; to him it shall belong.
10And every meal offering, mingled with oil and dry, shall all the sons of Aaron have, one as another.
11And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which [one] shall offer to Jehovah.
12If he shall offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, fine flour soaked.
13Besides the cakes, he shall offer his offering of leavened bread with the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving.
14And of it he shall offer one out of the whole offering as a heave offering to Jehovah; to the priest that sprinkleth the blood of the peace offerings it shall be.
15And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten on the day of his offering: he shall not leave any of it until the morning.
16And if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow, or voluntary, it shall be eaten on the day he offereth his sacrifice, and on the morrow the remainder of it shall be eaten;
17and the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt with fire.
18And if [any] of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten on the third day, it shall not be accepted, nor shall it be reckoned to him that offered it; it shall be an unclean thing, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.
19And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt with fire. And as for the flesh, all that are clean shall eat the flesh;
20but the soul that eateth the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings that are for Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples.
21And if a soul touch anything unclean, the uncleanness of man or unclean beast or any unclean abomination, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings that are for Jehovah, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples.
22And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
23Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no fat of ox, or sheep, or goat.
24And the fat of a dead carcass, and the fat of that which is torn, may be used in any other service; but ye shall in no wise eat it.
25For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast of which men offer a fire offering to Jehovah, the soul that eateth shall be cut off from his peoples.
26And ye shall eat no blood of fowl or beast, in any of your dwellings.
27Whatever soul [it be] that eateth any manner of blood shall be cut off from his peoples.
28And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
29Speak to the children of Israel, saying, He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings to Jehovah shall bring his oblation to Jehovah of the sacrifice of his peace offerings.
30His own hands shall bring Jehovah's fire offerings: the fat with the breast shall he bring, that the breast may be waved as a wave offering before Jehovah.
31And the priest shall burn the fat on the altar; and the breast shall be Aaron's and his sons.
32And the right shoulder shall ye give to the priest for a heave offering out of the sacrifice of your peace offerings.
33He of the sons of Aaron that offereth the blood of the peace offerings and the fat shall have the right shoulder for a portion.
34For the breast of the wave offering and the shoulder of the heave offering have I taken of the children of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons from the children of Israel, as a due portion forever.
35This is the portion of the anointing of Aaron, and of the anointing of his sons, from Jehovah's fire offerings, in the day he brought them next to serve Jehovah as priests,
36which Jehovah commanded to be given them by the children of Israel in the day that he anointed them, as a due portion forever throughout their generations.
37This [is] the law of the burnt offering, of the meal offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecration offering, and of the sacrifice of peace offerings;
38which Jehovah commanded Moses in mount Sinai, in the day that he commanded the children of Israel to present their offerings to Jehovah, in the wilderness of Sinai.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil, and the bullock of the sin-offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened [bread];
3and gather thou all the assembly together at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
4And Moses did as Jehovah had commanded him; and the assembly was gathered at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
5And Moses said to the assembly, This [is] the thing which Jehovah hath commanded to be done.
6And Moses brought Aaron near, and his sons, and bathed them with water.
7And he put on him the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod on him, and girded him with the curiously wrought girdle of the ephod, and fastened the ephod on him.
8And he placed the breast-plate on him; and in the breastplate he put the Urim and the Thummim.
9And he set the miter on his head, and on the miter in front did he set the golden plate, the holy diadem; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
10And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them.
11And he sprinkled thereof on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its vessels, and the laver and its base, to sanctify them.
12And he poured of the anointing oil on Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.
13And Moses brought near Aaron's sons, and clothed them with the coats, and girded them with the girdles, and bound the bonnets on them; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
14And he brought near the bullock of the sin-offering; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bullock for the sin-offering;
15and one slaughtered [it]; and Moses took the blood and put [it] on the horns of the altar, round about with his finger and cleansed the altar from sin, and poured out the blood at the bottom of the altar and sanctified it, making atonement for it.
16And he took all the fat that was on the inwards, and the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat; and Moses burned [them] on the altar.
17And the bullock and its skin and its flesh and its dung, he burned with fire outside the camp as Jehovah commanded Moses.
18And he brought near the ram of the burnt-offering; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram,
19and one slaughtered [it]; and Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar round about.
20And he cut up the ram into its pieces; and Moses burned the head, and the pieces, and the fat;
21and the inwards and the legs he washed with water; and Moses burned the whole ram on the altar: it [was] a burnt-offering for a sweet odour, a fire-offering to Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
22And he presented the other ram, the ram of consecration; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram;
23and one slaughtered [it]. And Moses took of its blood, and put [it] on the tip of Aaron's right ear, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.
24And he brought near Aaron's sons, and he put of the blood on the tip of their right ear, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot; and Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar round about.
25And he took the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that [was] on the inwards, and the net of the liver, and the two kidneys and their fat, and the right shoulder .
26And out of the basket of unleavened bread that [was] before Jehovah he took one unleavened cake and one cake of oiled bread and one wafer, and put them on the fat and upon the right shoulder;
27and he gave them all into Aaron's hands and into his sons' hands and waved them as a wave-offering before Jehovah.
28And Moses took them from off their hands, and burned [them] on the altar over the burnt-offering: they [were] a consecration of sweet odour; it [is] a fire-offering to Jehovah.
29And Moses took the breast, and waved it as a wave-offering before Jehovah: of the ram of consecration it was Moses' part; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
30And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood that [was] upon the altar and sprinkled [it] on Aaron, on his garments, and on his sons, and on his sons' garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.
31And Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh [at] the entrance of the tent of meeting; and there eat it and the bread that is in the basket of the consecration-offering, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.
32And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire.
33And ye shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting seven days, until the day when the days of your consecration are at an end: for seven days shall ye be consecrated.
34As he hath done this day, Jehovah hath commanded to do, to make atonement for you.
35And ye shall abide at the entrance of the tent of meeting day and night seven days, and keep the charge of Jehovah, that ye die not; for so I am commanded.
36And Aaron and his sons did all things that Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses.
1And it came to pass on the eighth day, Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel,
2and said to Aaron, Take thee a bull calf for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering, without blemish, and present [them] before Jehovah;
3and to the children of Israel shalt thou speak, saying, Take a buck of the goats for a sin-offering, and a calf and a lamb, yearlings, without blemish, for a burnt-offering;
4and a bullock and a ram for peace-offerings to sacrifice before Jehovah; and a meal-offering mingled with oil; for today Jehovah appeareth to you.
5And they brought what Moses commanded before the tent of meeting; and all the assembly drew near and stood before Jehovah.
6And Moses said, This [is] the thing which Jehovah commanded that ye should do; and the glory of Jehovah shall approach you.
7And Moses said to Aaron, Draw near unto the altar, and offer thy sin-offering and thy burnt-offering, and make atonement for thyself, and for the people; and offer the offerings of the people, and make atonement for them, as Jehovah commanded.
8And Aaron drew near to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin-offering which [was] for himself;
9And the sons of Aaron presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and put [it] on the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the bottom of the altar.
10And the fat and the kidneys, and the net above the liver, of the sin-offering, he burnt on the altar, as Jehovah commanded Moses.
11And the flesh and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.
12And he slaughtered the burnt-offering; and Aaron's sons delivered to him the blood which he sprinkled on the altar round about.
13And they delivered to him the burnt-offering piece by piece, and the head; and he burnt [them] on the altar.
14And he washed the inwards and the legs, and burnt [them] upon the burnt-offering on the altar.
15And he presented the people's offering, and took the goat of the sin-offering which [was] for the people, and slaughtered it, and offered it for sin, as the first.
16And he presented the burnt-offering, and offered it according to the ordinance.
17And he presented the meal-offering, and took a handful of it, and burnt [it] on the altar, besides the burnt-offering of the morning.
18And he slaughtered the bullock and the ram of the sacrifice of peace-offerings which [was] for the people. And Aaron's sons delivered to him the blood, and he sprinkled it on the altar round about;
19and the fat pieces of the bullock and of the ram, the fat tail and what covereth [the inwards], and the kidneys and the net of the liver.
20And they put the fat pieces on the breast pieces, and he burnt the fat pieces on the altar.
21And the breast pieces and the right shoulder Aaron waved, a wave-offering before Jehovah, as Moses commanded.
22And Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin-offering, and the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings.
23And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and came out, and blessed the people; and Jehovah's glory appeared to all the people.
24And there went out fire from before Jehovah, and consumed on the altar the burnt-offering and the fat; and all the people saw it, and they shouted, and fell on their faces.
1And the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and presented strange fire before Jehovah, which he had not commanded them.
2And there went out fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.
3And Moses said to Aaron, This [is] what Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be hallowed in those that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron was silent.
4And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Uzziel uncle of Aaron, and said to them, Draw near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.
5And they drew near, and carried them in their vests out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, Uncover not your heads nor rend your clothes, lest ye die, and lest wrath come on all the assembly; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, shall bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled.
7And ye shall not go out from the door of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of Jehovah [is] upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
8And Jehovah spoke to Aaron, saying,
9Thou shalt not drink wine nor strong drink, thou nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, lest ye die: an everlasting statute throughout your generations,
10and that ye may put difference between the holy and the unholy, and between the unclean and the clean,
11and that ye may teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.
12And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar his sons that were left, Take the meal-offering that is left of Jehovah's fire-offerings, and eat it with unleavened bread beside the altar; for it [is] most holy.
13And ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it [is] thy due and thy sons' due, of Jehovah's fire-offerings; for so I am commanded.
14And the breast of the wave-offering and the shoulder of the heave-offering ye shall eat in a clean place, thou and thy sons and thy daughters with thee; for thy due and thy sons' due [are they] given of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel.
15The shoulder of the heave-offering and the breast of the wave-offering shall they bring with the fire-offerings of the pieces of fat to wave as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and they shall be thine and thy sons' with thee for an everlasting statute, as Jehovah commanded.
16And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and, behold, it was burnt up; then he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons [that were] left, saying,
17Why have ye not eaten the sin-offering in the place of the sanctuary? For it [is] most holy; and he hath given it to you, that ye might bear the iniquity of the assembly, to make atonement for them before Jehovah.
18Behold, its blood was not brought in within the sanctuary: ye should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.
19And Aaron said to Moses, Behold, today have they presented their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before Jehovah; and such things as these have befallen me! And had I today eaten the sin-offering, would it have been good in the sight of Jehovah?
20And Moses heard, and it was good in his sight.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, These [are] the animals which ye shall eat among all the beasts that [are] on the earth.
3Whatsoever hath cloven hoofs, and feet split open, bringing up the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
4Only these shall ye not eat of those that bring up the cud, or of those with cloven hoofs; the camel, for it bringeth up the cud but hath not cloven hoofs, it [is] unclean to you;
5and the rock-badger, for it bringeth up the cud but hath not cloven hoofs, it [is] unclean to you:
6and the hare, for it bringeth up the cud but hath not cloven hoofs, it [is] unclean to you;
7and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs and feet split open, but it bringeth not up the cud, it [is] unclean to you.
8Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch, they [are] unclean to you.
9These shall ye eat of all that [are] in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas and in the rivers, these shall ye eat.
10But all that have not fins and scales in seas and in rivers, of all that swarm in the waters, and of every living creature that [is] in the waters, they [are] an abomination to you.
11They shall be even an abomination to you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcass ye shall have in abomination.
12Whatever in the waters hath no fins and scales, that [shall be] an abomination to you.
13And these ye shall have in abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the osprey, and the sea eagle;
14and the falcon, and the kite after its kind;
15every raven after its kind;
16and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind;
17and the owl, and the gannet, and the ibis,
18and the swan, and the pelican, and the vulture,
19and the stork; the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
20Every winged insect (or, crawling thing) that goeth on [all] four [shall be] an abomination unto you.
21Yet these shall ye eat of every winged insect that goeth on [all] four: those that have legs above their feet with which to leap upon the earth.
22These shall ye eat of them: the arbeh after its kind, and the salam after its kind, and the chargol after its kind, and the chagab after its kind.
23But every winged insect that hath four feet [shall be] an abomination unto you.
24And by these ye shall make yourselves unclean: whoever toucheth their carcass shall be unclean until the even.
25And whoever carrieth of their carcass shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even.
26Every beast that hath cloven hoofs, but is not quite split open, nor cheweth the cud, shall be unclean to you; everyone that toucheth them shall be unclean.
27And whatever goeth on its paws, among all beasts that go on all four, those are unclean to you: whoever toucheth their carcass shall be unclean until the even.
28And he that beareth the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean to you.
29And these shall be unclean to you among the creeping (or swarming) things that creep on the earth: the mole, and the mouse, and the tortoise after its kind;
30and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon.
31These shall be unclean to you among all that creep: whoever toucheth them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even.
32And on whatever any of them when they are dead falleth, it shall be unclean; all vessels of wood, or garment, or skin, or sack, every vessel wherewith work is done, it shall be put into water, and be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean.
33And every earthen vessel, whereunto [any] of them falleth, whatever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.
34All food that is eaten on which [such] water hath come shall be unclean, and all drink that is drunk shall be unclean in every [such] vessel.
35And everything whereon [aught] of their carcass falleth shall be unclean; oven or range shall be broken down: they are unclean and shall be unclean to you.
36Nevertheless a spring or a well, a collection of water, shall be clean. But he that toucheth their carcass shall be unclean.
37And if [aught] of their carcass fall on any sowing-seed that is to be sown, it is clean;
38but if water be put on the seed, and [aught] of their carcass fall thereon, it is unclean to you.
39And if any beast die that is to you for food, he that toucheth the carcass thereof shall be unclean until the even;
40and he that eateth of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even; he also that carrieth its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
41And every crawling thing which crawleth on the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.
42Whatever goeth on the belly, and whatever goeth on all four, and all that have a great many feet, of every manner of crawling thing which crawleth on the earth—these ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
43Ye shall not make yourselves abominable through any crawling thing which crawleth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
44For I am Jehovah your God; and ye shall hallow yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean through any manner of crawling thing which creepeth on the earth.
45For I am Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46This is the law of cattle, and of fowl, and of every living soul that moveth in the waters, and of every soul that crawleth on the earth;
47to make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that is to be eaten and the beast that is not to be eaten.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a woman conceive seed, and bear a male, then (and) she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of the separation of her infirmity she shall be unclean.
3And on the eighth day shall the flesh of his foreskin be circumcised.
4And she shall continue thirty-three days in the blood of her cleansing; no holy thing shall she touch, nor come into the sanctuary until the days of her cleansing are fulfilled.
5And if she bear a female, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation; and she shall continue sixty-six days in the blood of her cleansing.
6And when the days of her cleansing are fulfilled for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering, to the entrance of the tent of meeting to the priest.
7And he shall offer it before Jehovah and make atonement for her; and she shall be clean from the fountain of her blood. This [is the] law for her that beareth male or female.
8And if her hand cannot find enough for a sheep, she shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her; and she shall be clean.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
2When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a swelling, or a scab, or a bright spot, and it becometh in the skin of his flesh a stroke of leprosy, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest, or to one of his sons the priests.
3And when the priest looketh on the stroke in the skin of his flesh, and the hair in the stroke is turned white, and the stroke looketh deeper than the skin of his flesh, it [is] the stroke of leprosy; and the priest shall look on him and pronounce him unclean.
4But if the bright spot [be] white in the skin of his flesh, and look not deeper than the skin, and the hair be not turned white, the priest shall shut up [him that hath] the stroke seven days.
5And the priest shall look on him the seventh day; and, behold, in his sight the stroke remaineth as it was, the stroke hath not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days a second time.
6And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day, and, behold, the stroke [is] become pale, the stroke hath not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it [is] a scab; and he shall wash his garments, and be clean.
7But if the scab have spread much in the skin, after he hath been seen by the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen again by the priest;
8and the priest shall look on him, and, behold, the scab hath spread in the skin; then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it [is] leprosy.
9When a sore of leprosy is in a man, he shall be brought to the priest;
10and the priest shall look on [him], and, behold, [there is] a white rising in the skin, and it hath turned the hair white, and a trace of raw flesh [is] in the rising:
11it [is] an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; he shall not shut him up; for he [is] unclean.
12And if the leprosy break out much in the skin, and the leprosy cover all the skin of [him that hath] the sore, from his head even to his feet, wherever the eyes of the priest look,
13and the priest looketh, and, behold, the leprosy covereth all his flesh, he shall pronounce clean [him that hath] the sore: it is all turned white; he [is] clean.
14But on the day when raw flesh appeareth in him, he shall be unclean.
15And the priest shall look on the raw flesh, and shall pronounce him unclean; the raw flesh is unclean; it [is] leprosy.
16But if the raw flesh change again and be turned white, he shall come to the priest,
17and the priest shall look on him, and, behold, the sore is turned white, then the priest shall pronounce clean [him that hath] the sore; he [is] clean.
18And when the flesh hath in the skin thereof a boil and it is healed,
19and in the place of the boil is a white rising, or a white reddish bright spot, it shall be shown to the priest;
20and the priest shall look on it, and behold, it looketh deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof is turned white; then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it [is] the sore of leprosy broken out in the boil.
21But if the priest look on it, and, behold, no white hairs [are] therein, and it [is] not deeper than the skin, and [is] pale, the priest shall shut him up seven days;
22and if it spread much in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it [is] the sore.
23But if the bright spot have stayed in its place and have not spread, it [is] the scar of the boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
24Or when the flesh hath in the skin thereof a burning inflammation and the place of the inflammation becometh a bright spot white-reddish or white,
25then the priest shall look on it, and, behold, the hair is turned white in the bright spot, and it looketh deeper than the skin, it [is] a leprosy that is broken out in the inflammation; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it [is] the sore of leprosy.
26But if the priest look on it, and, behold, no white hair [is] in the bright spot, and it [is] no deeper than the skin, but [is] pale, the priest shall shut him up seven days.
27And the priest shall look on him the seventh day, and if it have spread much in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it [is] the sore of leprosy.
28But if the bright spot stay in its place, not spread in the skin, and [is] pale, it is the rising of the inflammation; and the priest shall pronounce him clean; for it [is] the scar of the inflammation.
29And if a man or a woman hath a sore on the head or on the beard,
30and the priest look on the sore, and, behold, it looketh deeper than the skin, and yellow thin hair [is] in it, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it [is] a scall, leprosy of the head or of the beard.
31And if the priest look on the sore of the scall, and, behold, it looketh not deeper than the skin, and no black hair [is] in it, the priest shall shut up [him that hath] the sore of the scall seven days.
32And when the priest looketh on the sore on the seventh day, and, behold, the scall hath not spread, and no yellow hair is in it, and the scall doth not look deeper than the skin,
33he shall shave himself, but the scall shall he not shave; and the priest shall shut up [him that hath] the scall seven days a second time.
34And the priest shall look on the scall on the seventh day, and, behold, the scall hath not spread in the skin, nor looketh deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his garments and be clean.
35But if the scall hath spread much in the skin after his cleansing,
36and the priest shall look on him, and, behold, the scall hath spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellow hair: he [is] unclean.
37But if in his eyes the scall be at a stay, and black hair hath grown up therein, the scall is healed, he [is] clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
38And if a man or a woman, hath in the skin of their flesh bright spots, white bright spots,
39and the priest look, and, behold, in the skin of their flesh [are] pale white spots, it [is] an eruption that hath broken out in the skin; he [is] clean.
40And if a man's hair have fallen off his head, he [is] bald; he [is] clean.
41And if his hair be fallen off from the front part of his head toward his face, he [is] forehead bald; he [is] clean.
42And if there be in the bald head or bald forehead a white-reddish sore, it [is] a leprosy that has broken out in his bald head or his bald forehead.
43And the priest shall look on it, and, behold, the rising of the sore [is] white-reddish in his bald head or in his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh,
44he is a leprous man, he [is] unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his sore [is] in his head.
45And the leper in whom the sore is, — his garments shall be rent, and his head shall be uncovered , and he shall cover his upper lip or beard, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean
46All the days that the sore [shall be] in him, he shall be unclean: he [is] unclean; he shall dwell apart; outside the camp his dwelling [shall be].
47And if a sore of leprosy is in raiment, in woollen raiment or linen raiment,
48either in warp or in woof, of linen, or of woollen, or in a skin or anything made of skin;
49and the sore is greenish or reddish in raiment or in the skin, or in the warp or in the woof, or in anything of skin; it [is] the sore of leprosy and shall be shown to the priest.
50And the priest shall look on the sore, and shut up [what hath] the sore seven days.
51And he shall look on the sore on the seventh day: if the sore have spread in the raiment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in the skin, whatever work is made of skin, the sore [is] a corroding leprosy; it [is] unclean.
52And they shall burn the raiment, or the warp or the woof, of woollen or of linen, or anything of skin, wherein the sore is; for it [is] a corroding leprosy; it shall be burned with fire.
53But the priest shall look, and, behold, [if] the sore hath not spread in the raiment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in anything of skin,
54then the priest shall command that they wash [the thing] wherein the sore [is], and he shall shut it up seven days a second time.
55And the priest shall look on the sore after the washing; and, behold, [if] the sore have not changed its appearance , and the sore have not spread, it [is] unclean: thou shalt burn it with fire: it [is] a fret [on what is] threadbare or napless .
56But if the priest look, and, behold, the sore be dim after the washing thereof, then he shall rend it out of the raiment or out of the skin, or out of the warp or out of the woof.
57And if it appear still in the raiment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in anything of skin, it [is] a breaking out: thou shalt burn with fire that wherein the sore [is].
58But the raiment, either the warp or the woof, or whatever thing of skin which thou hast washed, and the sore departeth from them, it shall be washed a second time, and be clean.
59This [is] the law of the sore of leprosy in raiment of wool or linen, either in the warp or in the woof, or in anything of skin, to pronounce it clean or to pronounce it unclean.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying,
2This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. He shall be brought to the priest,
3and the priest shall go out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, the sore of leprosy is healed in the leper;
4then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two living clean birds, and cedar wood and scarlet and hyssop.
5And the priest shall command to kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over living water.
6As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood and the scarlet and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird killed over the living water;
7and he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let go the living bird into the open field.
8And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave all his hair, and bathe in water, and he shall be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days.
9And it shall be on the seventh day that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair shall he shave: and he shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.
10And on the eighth day he shall take two he-lambs without blemish, and one ewe-lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenths of fine flour mingled with oil for an oblation , and one log of oil.
11And the priest that cleanseth shall present the man that is to be cleansed and those things before Jehovah at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
12And the priest shall take one he-lamb, and present it for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before Jehovah.
13And he shall slaughter the he-lamb at the place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered, in a holy place; for as the sin offering, so the trespass offering is the priest's; it is most holy.
14And the priest shall take of the blood of the trespass offering and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.
15And the priest shall take of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand;
16and the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before Jehovah.
17And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand the priest shall put on the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering.
18And the remainder of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed, and the priest shall make atonement for him before Jehovah.
19And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering.
20And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the oblation upon the altar; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.
21And if he [be] poor, and his hand be not able to get it, then he shall take one lamb a trespass offering, a wave offering to atone for him; and one tenth part of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering;
22and a log of oil, and two turtle doves or two young pigeons, as his hand may be able to get: the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.
23And he shall bring them on the eighth day of his cleansing to the priest unto the entrance of the tent of meeting before Jehovah.
24And the priest shall take the he-lamb of the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them a wave offering before Jehovah.
25And he shall slaughter the he-lamb of the trespass offering; and the priest shall take the blood of the trespass offering, and put [it] upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of the right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.
26And the priest shall pour of the oil into the priest's left hand,
27and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger of the oil that [is] in his left hand seven times before Jehovah.
28And the priest shall put of the oil that [is] in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the trespass offering.
29And the remainder of the oil that [is] in the priest's hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed to atone for him before Jehovah.
30And he shall offer one of the turtle doves or of the young pigeons, of what his hand was able to get;
31[even] of what his hand was able to get the one a trespass offering, the other a burnt offering with the meal offering; and the priest shall atone for him that is to be cleansed before Jehovah.
32This is the law [for him] in whom [is] the sore of leprosy, whose hand cannot get what is for his cleansing.
33And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
34When ye come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put a leprous plague in a house of the land of your possession,
35then he whose house it is shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me like a plague in the house;
36and the priest shall command that they empty the house before the priest go to see the plague, that all that [is] in the house be not made unclean; and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house.
37And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, the plague [is] in the walls of the house, greenish or reddish hollows, and their look [is] deeper than the wall,
38then the priest shall go out of the house to the entrance of the house, and shut up the house seven days.
39And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and he shall look, and, behold, the plague hath spread in the walls of the house,
40then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague [is], and they shall cast them out of the city in an unclean place.
41And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scraped off, out of the city in an unclean place.
42And they shall take other stones, and put [them] in the place of those stones: and they shall take other mortar, and shall plaster the house.
43And if the plague come again and break out in the house, after he hath taken away the stones and after he hath scraped the house and after it is plastered,
44then the priest shall come, and shall look, and, behold, the plague hath spread in the house, it [is] a corroding leprosy in the house; it [is] unclean.
45And they shall break down the house, the stones of it, the timber of it and the mortar of the house, and shall carry [them] forth out of the city to an unclean place.
46And he that goeth into the house as long as it is shut up shall be unclean until the even.
47And he that sleepeth in the house shall wash his raiment, and he that eateth in the house shall wash his raiment.
48But if the priest shall come in and look and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house hath been plastered, the priest shall pronounce the house clean; for the plague is healed.
49And he shall take to purge the house the two birds and cedar-wood and scarlet and hyssop;
50and he shall kill one bird in an earthen vessel over living water;
51and he shall take the cedar-wood and the hyssop and the scarlet and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the bird that was killed, and in the living water, and shall sprinkle the house seven times;
52and he shall purge the house from the defilement with the blood of the bird, and with the living water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar-wood and with the hyssop and with the scarlet;
53and he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open field; and he shall atone for the house, and it is clean.
54This [is] the law for every sore of leprosy, and for the scall;
55and for leprosy of raiment, and for houses;
56and for a rising and for a scab, and for a bright spot,
57to teach in the day of uncleanness, and in the day of cleanness; this [is] the law of leprosy.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, If any man hath a flux from his flesh because of his flux, he [is] unclean.
3And this shall be his uncleanness in his flux: whether his flesh run with his flux, or his flesh be closed from his flux, it [is] his uncleanness.
4Every bed whereon he that hath the flux lieth shall be unclean; and everything whereon he sitteth shall be unclean.
5And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
6And he that sitteth on [anything] whereon he that hath the flux sat shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
7And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the flux shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
8And if he that hath the flux spit upon him that is clean, then he shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
9And what carriage (or saddle) soever he that hath the flux rideth upon shall be unclean.
10And whosoever toucheth anything that was under him shall be unclean until the even; and he that beareth those things shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
11And whomsoever he that hath the flux toucheth without having rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his raiment, and bathe [himself] in water, and be unclean until the even.
12And the earthen vessel that he that hath the flux toucheth shall be broken; and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.
13And when he that hath a flux is cleansed of his flux, then he shall count seven days for his cleansing, and wash his raiment, and bathe his flesh in living water, and he shall be clean.
14And on the eighth day he shall take two turtle-doves or two young pigeons, and come before Jehovah unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, and give them unto the priest.
15And the priest shall offer them, one as a sin-offering and the other as a burnt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him before Jehovah for his flux.
16And if any man's seed of copulation pass from him, then he shall bathe his whole flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.
17And all raiment and every skin, wherein the seed of copulation shall be, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even.
18And a woman with whom a man lieth with seed of copulation, they shall bathe in water, and be unclean until the even.
19And if a woman hath a flux, and her flux in her flesh be blood, she shall be seven days in her separation, and whoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.
20And everything that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean; and everything that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.
21And whoever toucheth her bed shall wash his raiment, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
22And whoever toucheth anything that she sitteth upon shall wash his raiment, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even.
23And if it be on the bed or on anything on which she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even.
24And if a man lie with her at all, and the uncleanness of her separation come upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and every bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.
25And if a woman have her flux of blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if she have the flux beyond the time of her separation, all the days of the flux of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she is unclean.
26Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her flux shall be to her as the bed of her separation; and everything on which she sitteth shall be unclean, according to the uncleanness of her separation.
27And whoever toucheth these things shall be unclean, and shall wash his raiment, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even.
28And if she be cleansed of her flux, then she shall count seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
29And on the eighth day she shall take to her two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, and bring them to the priest, to the door of the tent of meeting.
30And the priest shall offer the one as a sin-offering and the other as a burnt-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her before Jehovah for the flux of her uncleanness.
31Ye shall separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is in their midst.
32This is the law of him that hath a flux, and of him whose seed of copulation goeth from him, whereby he is defiled;
33and of her who is sick in separation, and of him that hath a flux; of the man and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before Jehovah and died;
2and Jehovah said to Moses, Speak to Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the sanctuary within the veil before the mercy-seat which [is] upon the ark, that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat.
3Thus shall Aaron come into the sanctuary, with a young bullock for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering.
4A holy linen coat he shall put on, and linen breeches shall be upon his flesh; and he shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen miter shall he be attired: these [are] holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on.
5And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
7And he shall take the two goats, and present them before Jehovah at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
8And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for Jehovah, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
9And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which Jehovah's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
10But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before Jehovah, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
11And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall slaughter the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself.
12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before Jehovah, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring [it] within the veil;
13and he shall put the incense upon the fire before Jehovah, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that [is] upon the testimony, that he die not.
14And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat eastward; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat;
16and he shall make atonement for the sanctuary, to cleanse it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and from their transgressions in all their sins; and so shall he do for the tent of meeting which dwelleth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the sanctuary until he come out; and he shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and for the whole congregation of Israel.
18And he shall go out unto the altar that is before Jehovah, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
19And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat;
21and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
22and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat into the wilderness.
23And Aaron shall go into the tent of meeting, and shall put off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there;
24and he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and go forth, and offer his burnt-offering, and the burnt-offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.
25And the fat of the sin-offering shall he burn upon the altar.
26And he that letteth go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water; and afterwards he may come into the camp.
27And the bullock of the sin-offering, and the goat of the sin-offering whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the sanctuary, shall one carry forth outside the camp; and they shall burn with fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
28And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water; and afterwards he may come into the camp.
29And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you. In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or the stranger that sojourneth among you;
30for on that day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you: from all your sins shall ye be clean before Jehovah.
31It is a Sabbath of solemn rest among you, and ye shall afflict your souls; it is a Sabbath forever.
32And the priest who hath been anointed, and who hath been consecrated, to exercise the priesthood in his father's stead, shall make atonement; and he shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments.
33And he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary; and for the tent of meeting, and for the altar shall he make atonement; and for the priests, and for the whole people of the congregation shall he make atonement.
34And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel to cleanse them from all their sins once a year. And he did as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel and say to them, This [is] the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, saying,
3Every one of the house of Israel that slaughtereth an ox or sheep or goat in the camp, or that slaughtereth [it] out of the camp,
4and doth not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to offer [it] as an oblation to Jehovah before the tabernacle of Jehovah, blood shall be reckoned to that man: he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people,
5to the end that the children of Israel bring their sacrifices which they sacrifice in the open field, that they bring them to Jehovah, to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace-offerings to Jehovah.
6And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of Jehovah, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet savour to Jehovah.
7And they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to demons after whom they go a whoring. This shall be an everlasting statute to them for their generations.
8And thou shalt say to them, Every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,
9and bringeth it not to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to offer it to Jehovah; that man shall be cut off from his peoples.
10And every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, that eateth any manner of blood—I will set my face against the soul that eateth the blood, and I will cut him off from among his people,
11for the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to atone for your souls, for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul.
12Therefore have I said to the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall the stranger who sojourneth among you eat blood.
13And every one of the children of Israel, and of the strangers that sojourn among them, that catcheth in the hunt a beast or fowl which may be eaten, he shall pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with earth;
14for as to the life of all flesh, its blood is the life in it : and I have said to the children of Israel, Of the blood of no manner of flesh shall ye eat, for the life of all flesh is its blood: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
15And every soul that eateth that which died [of itself] or that which was torn [by beasts, whether he be] home-born or a stranger, shall both wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even; then he shall be clean.
16But if he wash them not nor bathe his flesh, he shall also bear his iniquity.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, I [am] Jehovah your God.
3After the doings of the land of Egypt wherein ye dwelt, ye shall not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan whither I bring you, ye shall not do; neither shall ye walk in their customs.
4Mine ordinances shall ye do and my statutes shall ye observe to walk therein: I [am] Jehovah your God.
5And ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, by which the man that doeth them shall live: I [am] Jehovah.
6None of you shall approach to all flesh of his flesh to uncover nakedness: I [am] Jehovah.
7The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover (she [is] thy mother); thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it [is] thy father's nakedness.
9The nakedness of thy sister, daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, born at home or born abroad, their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10The nakedness of thy son's daughter or of thy daughter's daughter, their nakedness thou shalt not uncover; for theirs [is] thy nakedness.
11The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father (she [is] thy sister), thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12The nakedness of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover; she [is] thy father's own flesh.
13The nakedness of thy mother's sister shalt thou not uncover; for she [is] thy mother's own flesh.
14The nakedness of thy father's brother shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not approach his wife: she [is] thine aunt.
15The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law shalt thou not uncover (she [is] thy son's wife); thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16The nakedness of thy brother's wife shalt thou not uncover; it [is] thy brother's nakedness.
17The nakedness of a woman and her daughter shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not take her son's daughter, nor her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness (they [are] her own flesh): it [is] wickedness.
18And thou shalt not take a wife to her sister, to vex [her] , to uncover her nakedness, beside her during her life.
19And thou shalt not approach a woman, in the separation of her uncleanness to uncover her nakedness.
20And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife to become unclean with her.
21And thou shalt not give of thy seed to let them pass through [the fire] to Molech, nor shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I [am] Jehovah.
22And thou shalt not lie with mankind as one lieth with womankind: it [is] abomination.
23And thou shalt not lie with any beast to become unclean therewith; and a woman shall not stand before a beast to lie down therewith: it [is] confusion.
24Make not yourselves unclean in any of these things; for in all these have made themselves unclean the nations which I cast out from before you.
25And the land hath become unclean: and I visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land vomiteth out its inhabitants.
26But ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, and shall not do any of all these abominations, —the homeborn and the stranger that sojourneth among you
27(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, who [were] before you, and the land hath been made unclean);
28that the land vomit not you out also, when ye make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
29For whosoever shall do any of these abominations, the souls that do [them] shall be cut off from among their people.
30Therefore shall ye observe my charge, that ye do not [any] of these abominable customs which were done before you; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean therein: I [am] Jehovah your God.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to all the assembly of the children of Israel, and say to them, Ye shall be holy, for I Jehovah your God [am] holy.
3Ye shall reverence every man his mother, and his father, and ye shall keep my Sabbaths: I [am] Jehovah your God.
4Ye shall not turn to idols, and ye shall not make to yourselves molten gods: I [am] Jehovah your God.
5And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace-offerings to Jehovah, ye shall offer it for your acceptance.
6It shall be eaten on the day when ye sacrifice it, and on the morrow; and that which remaineth to the third day shall be burned with fire.
7And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is an unclean thing, (an abomination,) it shall not be accepted.
8And he that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, for he hath profaned the holy thing of Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his peoples.
9And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field; and the gleaning of thy harvest thou shalt not gather.
10And thy vineyard shalt thou not glean, neither shalt thou gather the scattered grapes of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and the stranger: I [am] Jehovah your God.
11Υe shall not steal, and ye shall not deal falsely, and ye shall not lie one to another.
12And ye shall not swear by my name falsely and profane the name of thy God; I [am] Jehovah.
13Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbour, nor rob him. The wages of the hired servant shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.
14Thou shalt not curse a deaf [person] nor put a stumbling-block before a blind one, but thou shalt fear thy God: I [am] Jehovah.
15Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shall not respect the person of the lowly, nor honour the person of the mighty; in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
16Thou shalt not go about a tale-bearer among thy people; nor shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I [am] Jehovah.
17Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart; thou shalt earnestly rebuke thy neighbour, lest thou bear sin on account of him.
18Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] Jehovah.
19Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind; thou shalt not sow thy field with two kinds of seed; nor shall there come upon thee a garment of two kinds of stuff mingled together.
20And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman that is a bondmaid bethrothed to a husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her: there shall be punishment; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
21And he shall bring his guilt-offering unto Jehovah to the door of the tent of meeting, a ram for a guilt-offering.
22And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering before Jehovah for his sin which he hath sinned, and he shall be forgiven for his sin which he hath sinned.
23And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as their uncircumcision: three years shall they be as uncircumcised to you; it shall not be eaten.
24But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy for giving praise unto Jehovah.
25And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield to you the increase thereof: I [am] Jehovah your God.
26Ye shall not eat [anything] with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantments, nor practice augury.
27Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, nor shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I [am] Jehovah.
29Profane not thy daughter to make her a harlot; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of enormity.
30Ye shall keep my Sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I [am] Jehovah.
31Turn ye not to those that have familiar spirits, nor to the wizards; seek them not to be defiled by them: I [am] Jehovah, your God.
32Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and thou shalt fear thy God: I [am] Jehovah.
33And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not do him wrong.
34The stranger that sojourneth with you shall be to you as the homeborn among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I [am] Jehovah your God.
35Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in mete-yard, in weight, or in measure.
36Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I [am] Jehovah your God that brought you out of the land of Egypt.
37And ye shall observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I [am] Jehovah.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Thou shalt say also to the children of Israel, Every one of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth of his seed to Molech shall certainly be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
3And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed to Molech, so as to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name.
4And if the people of the land in any way hide their eyes from that man, when he giveth of his seed to Molech, that they kill him not,
5then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.
6And the soul that turneth to necromancers and to soothsayers, to go a whoring after them, I will set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
7Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I [am] Jehovah, your God.
8And ye shall observe my statutes and do them: I [am] Jehovah who sanctify you.
9Whatever man revileth his father and his mother shall certainly be put to death: he hath reviled his father and his mother; his blood is upon him.
10And a man that committeth adultery with a man's wife, who committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, —the adulterer and the adulteress shall certainly be put to death.
11And a man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.
12And if a man lie with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall certainly be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood is upon them.
13And if a man lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.
14And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is infamy: they shall burn him and them with fire, that there be no infamy among you.
15And if a man lie with a beast for copulation, he shall certainly be put to death; and ye shall kill the beast.
16And if a woman approach unto any beast to gender therewith, thou shalt kill the woman and the beast: they shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.
17And if a man take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness, that is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off before the eyes of the children of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
18And if a man shall lie with a woman in her infirmity, and uncover her nakedness, her flux doth he lay bare, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood; and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
19And the nakedness of thy mother's sister, and of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover; for he hath laid naked his near relation: they shall bear their iniquity.
20And if a man lie with his aunt, he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness: their sin shall they bear: they shall die childless.
21And if a man take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness: they shall be childless.
22And ye shall observe all my statutes, and all mine ordinances, and do them, that the land whither I bring you to dwell therein vomit you not out.
23And ye shall not walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for all these things have they done, and they became an abomination to me.
24And I have said unto you, Ye shall possess their land, and I will give it unto you for a possession; a land flowing with milk and honey: I am Jehovah your God, who have separated you from the peoples.
25And ye shall make a separation between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean, and ye shall not make yourselves an abomination by beast, or by fowl, or by anything that creepeth on the ground which I have separated for you, declaring it as unclean.
26And ye shall be holy unto me; for I Jehovah am holy, and have separated you from the peoples to be mine.
27And if there be a man or a woman in whom is a spirit of Python or of divination, they shall certainly be put to death: they shall stone them with stones; their blood is upon them.
1And Jehovah said to Moses, Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them, There shall none defile himself for a dead one (soul) among his peoples,
2except for his kin that is near to him—for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother;
3and for his sister a virgin, that is near to him, who hath had no husband, for her he may defile himself.
4He shall not make himself unclean, [being] a chief among his peoples, to profane himself.
5They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
6They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the fire-offerings of Jehovah, the bread of their God; therefore shall they be holy.
7They shall not take to wife a harlot or one dishonoured; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy to his God.
8And thou shalt sanctify him; for the bread of thy God he offereth; he shall be holy to thee; for I, Jehovah, who sanctify you, am holy.
9And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father; she shall be burnt with fire.
10And the priest that is greater than his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and who is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head , nor rend his garments.
11Neither shall he come near any person dead, nor make himself unclean for his father nor for his mother.
12Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God [is] upon him: I [am] Jehovah.
13And he shall take a wife in her virginity.
14A widow or a divorced woman or one dishonoured, a harlot, these shall he not take; but he shall take as wife a virgin from among his peoples.
15And he shall not profane his seed among his peoples; for I Jehovah sanctify him.
16And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
17Speak to Aaron, saying, Whoever of thy seed throughout their generations that hath a defect, he shall not approach to present the bread of his God.
18For whatever man hath a defect, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or one limb longer than the other;
19or a man that is broken-footed, or broken-handed;
20or humpbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a spot in his eye, or is scurvy or scabbed, or hath his testicles broken.
21No man of the seed of Aaron the priest that hath defect shall come near to present Jehovah's fire-offerings: he hath a defect; he shall not come near to present the bread of his God.
22He shall eat the bread of his God, [both] of the most holy and of the holy.
23Only he shall not come in unto the veil, nor shall he draw near unto the altar, for he hath a defect; that he profane not my holy things ; for I Jehovah sanctify them.
24And Moses told [it] to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name [in] what they hallow to me: I [am] Jehovah.
3Say to them, Whosoever of all your seed among your generations that goeth unto the holy things which the children of Israel hallow to Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I [am] Jehovah.
4Whatsoever man of the seed of Aaron [is] a leper, or hath a running of the reins, shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean; and whosoever toucheth anything unclean of the dead, or a man whose seed passeth from him;
5or whosoever toucheth any reptile whereby he may be made unclean, or a man from whom he may take uncleanness whatsoever uncleanness he hath;
6the person that hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.
7And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things, because it [is] his food.
8That which dieth of itself, or is torn, he shall not eat to defile himself with it: I [am] Jehovah.
9They shall therefore keep mine ordinance lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I Jehovah sanctify them.
10No stranger shall eat the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or a hired servant shall not eat the holy thing.
11But if the priest buy a person with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house; they shall eat of his meat.
12If the priest's daughter also belong to a strange man, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
13But if the priest's daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned to her father's house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's meat; but no stranger shall eat of it.
14And if a man eat the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth thereof to it, and shall offer [it] to the priest with the holy thing.
15And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer to Jehovah;
16or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass when they eat their holy things; for I Jehovah sanctify them.
17And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
18Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, If there be any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners in Israel, that presenteth his gift (corban) for any of his voluntary offerings which they present to Jehovah as a burnt offering,
19it shall be accepted for you without blemish, a male of the oxen, of the sheep, and of the goats.
20Whatsoever hath a blemish shall ye not offer, for it shall not be acceptable for you.
21And when a man offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings to Jehovah as a vow or an offering of the herds or of the flocks, it shall be without blemish to be accepted: no defect shall be therein.
22Blind or broken or maimed or ulcerous or scurvy or scabbed, ye shall not offer these to Jehovah; and a fire offering shall ye not make of these on the altar to Jehovah.
23A bullock and a sheep that hath any limb superfluous or lacking that mayest thou offer as a voluntary offering; but as a vow it shall not be accepted.
24That which is bruised or crushed or broken or cut shall ye not present to Jehovah; neither in your land shall ye do (so).
25And from a stranger's hand shall ye not offer the bread of your God from any of these; because their corruption [is] in them; a blemish [is] in them: they shall not be accepted for you.
26And Jehovah spake to Moses, saying,
27An ox, or a sheep, or a goat, when it is brought forth, shall be seven days under its dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted as a fire offering to Jehovah.
28A cow or sheep—it and its young—shall ye not slaughter in one day.
29And when ye sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Jehovah, ye shall sacrifice for your acceptance.
30On that day shall it be eaten; ye shall leave none of it until morning: I [am] Jehovah.
31And ye shall observe my commandments and do them: I [am] Jehovah.
32And ye shall not profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I [am] Jehovah that hallow you,
33that brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I [am] Jehovah.
1And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of Jehovah, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
3Six days shall work be done; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein; it is the Sabbath of Jehovah in all your dwellings.
4These are the feasts of Jehovah, holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons:
5In the fourteenth day of the first month, at even, is Jehovah's Passover.
6And on the fifteenth day of this month is the feast of unleavened bread to Jehovah; seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread.
7In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
9And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
10Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest.
11And he shall wave the sheaf before Jehovah, to be accepted for you; on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
12And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf, an he-lamb without blemish, of the first year, for a burnt offering unto Jehovah:
13and the meal-offering thereof shall be two tenth-deals of fine flour, mingled with oil; an offering made by fire unto Jehovah for a sweet savour; and the drink-offering thereof, of wine, a fourth part of a hin.
14And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
15And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave-offering, seven Sabbaths shall be complete,
16even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meal-offering unto Jehovah.
17Out of your dwellings shall ye bring two wave-loaves, of two tenths of fine flour; with leaven shall they be baken; as first-fruits to Jehovah.
18And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs, without blemish, of the first year; and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt-offering unto Jehovah with their oblation, and their drink-offerings, an offering by fire of a sweet odour to Jehovah.
19Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin-offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace-offerings.
20And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave-offering before the Lord, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to Jehovah for the priest.
21And ye shall proclaim on the self-same day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
22And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field, when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor and to the stranger: I am Jehovah your God.
23And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
24Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, in the seventh month in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
25No manner of servile work shall ye do; but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.
26And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
27Also on the tenth day of the seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.
28And ye shall do no work in that same day; for it is a day of atonement to make an atonement for you before Jehovah your God.
29For whatsoever soul it shall be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31No manner of work shall ye do: it is an everlasting statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls. On the ninth of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.
33And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
34Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto Jehovah.
35On the first day shall be an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein.
36Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord; on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you, and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah. It is a solemn assembly, and ye shall do no servile work therein.
37These are the set feasts of Jehovah, which ye shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present an offering by fire to Jehovah, a burnt-offering, and an oblation, a sacrifice, and drink-offerings, everything upon its day;
38besides the Sabbaths of Jehovah, and besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your voluntary offerings, which ye give to Jehovah.
39Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto Jehovah seven days: on the first day shall be a Sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Sabbath.
40Ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees and willows of the brook, and ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God seven days.
41And ye shall celebrate it as a feast to Jehovah seven days in the year: it is an everlasting statute throughout your generations; in the seventh month shall ye celebrate it.
42In booths shall ye dwell seven days; all born in Israel shall dwell in booths;
43that your generations may know that I caused the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Jehovah your God.
44And Moses declared the set feasts of Jehovah to the children of Israel.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Command the children of Israel that they take unto thee pure beaten olive oil for the light to light the lamp continually.
3Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, shall Aaron dress it from evening to morning before Jehovah continually: an everlasting statute throughout your generations.
4Upon the pure candlestick shall he arrange the lamps before Jehovah continually.
5And thou shalt take fine wheaten flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof; each cake shall be of two tenths.
6And thou shalt set them in two rows, six in a row, upon the pure table before Jehovah.
7And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon [each] row; and it shall be a bread of remembrance, an offering to Jehovah.
8Every Sabbath day he shall arrange it before Jehovah continually on the part of the children of Israel: an everlasting covenant.
9And it shall be Aaron's, and his sons'; and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it [is] most holy unto him of Jehovah's fire-offerings: an everlasting statute.
10And the son of an Israelitish woman, but who [was] son of an Egyptian man, went forth among the children of Israel; and this son of the Israelitish [woman] quarreled with an Israelitish man together in the camp.
11And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the Name, and cursed; and they brought him to Moses (and his mother's name [was] Shelomith, daughter of Dibri of the tribe of Dan).
12And they placed him in ward, that they might decide at the mouth of Jehovah.
13And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
14Lead the blasphemer outside the camp; and all that heard shall lay their hands upon his head, and the whole assembly shall stone him.
15And thou shalt speak to the children of Israel, saying, Every one when he curseth his God shall bear his sin.
16And he that blasphemeth the name of Jehovah shall certainly be put to death: all the assembly shall certainly stone him; as well the stranger as the homeborn, when he blasphemeth the Name, shall be put to death.
17And he that smiteth any man mortally shall certainly be put to death.
18And he that smiteth any beast mortally shall make it good, life for life.
19And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour as he hath done, so shall it be done to him,
20breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him.
21And he that smiteth a beast [mortally] shall make it good; and he that smiteth a man [mortally] shall be put to death.
22Ye shall have one law; as the stranger, so the homeborn; for I [am] Jehovah your God.
23And Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they led the blasphemer outside the camp, and stoned him with stones. And the children of Israel did as Jehovah commanded Moses.
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When ye come into the land that I will give you, the land shall keep a Sabbath to Jehovah.
3Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years shalt thou prune thy vineyard, and gather in the produce thereof;
4but in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest for the land, a Sabbath to Jehovah. Thy field thou shalt not sow, nor prune thy vineyard.
5That which groweth of itself of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thine undressed vines thou shalt not gather: a year of rest shall it be for the land.
6And the Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for thee, and for thy bondman, and for thy handmaid, and for thy hired servant, and for him that dwelleth as a sojourner with thee, and for thy cattle,
7and for the beasts that [are] in thy land: all the produce thereof, it shall be for your food.
8And thou shalt count to thee seven Sabbaths of years, seven years seven times; and the days of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be to thee forty and nine years.
9And thou shalt cause a sound of the trumpet to go forth in the seventh month on the tenth [day] of the month; on the day of atonement shall ye sound the trumpet throughout all your land.
10And ye shall hallow the year of the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty in the land to all the inhabitants thereof: a jubilee shall it be to you, and ye shall return [every] man to his possession, and ye shall return [every] man to his family.
11A jubilee this fiftieth year [shall] be to you: ye shall not sow, nor reap its after-growth, nor gather one of its separations.
12For it [is] the jubilee; it shall be holy to you; out of the field ye shall eat its produce.
13In this year of jubilee shall ye return [every] man to his possession.
14And if thou sell aught to thy neighbour, or buy of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not overreach one another.
15According to the number of years since the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbour; according to the number of years of the crops he shall sell to thee.
16According to the greater number of the years thou shalt increase the price thereof; and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price thereof; for it is the number of the crops that he selleth to thee.
17And ye shall not overreach one another; but thou shalt fear thy God; for I [am] Jehovah your God.
18Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
19And the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
20And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:
21then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for the three years.
22And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits, the old, until the ninth year; until its fruits come in, ye shall eat [of] the old.
23And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land [is] mine; for ye [are] strangers and sojourners with me.
24And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25If thy brother grow poor and sell of his possession, then shall his nearest of kin come and redeem what his brother sold.
26And if the man have no one having right of redemption, and his hand hath attained and found sufficiency for its redemption,
27then shall he reckon the years since his sale, and restore the overplus to the man to whom he sold it; and so return to his possession.
28And if his hand, have not found what sufficeth to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of the buyer until the year of jubilee; and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
29And if any one sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he shall have the right of redemption up to the end of the year of the sale; for a full year he shall have the right of redemption.
30But if it be not redeemed until a whole year is complete, then the house that [is] in the walled city shall be established forever to him that bought it throughout his generations; it shall not go out in the jubilee.
31But the houses in villages that have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.
32But [as to] the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities of their possession, the Levites shall have a perpetual right of redemption.
33And if a man redeem from one of the Levites , then the house that was sold in the city of his possession shall go out in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites [are] their possession among the children of Israel.
34And the field of the suburbs of their cities shall not be sold; for it [is] their perpetual possession.
35And if thy brother grow poor and be fallen into decay beside thee, then thou shalt relieve him, stranger or sojourner, that he may live beside thee.
36Thou shalt take no usury nor increase of him; and thou shalt fear thy God, that thy brother may live beside thee.
37Thy money shalt thou not give him on usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.
38I [am] Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, to be your God.
39And if thy brother grow poor beside thee, and be sold to thee, thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bond-servant:
40as a hired servant, as a sojourner, he shall be with thee; until the year of jubilee he shall serve with thee.
41And he shall go out from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his father he shall return.
42For they [are] my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as they sell bondmen.
43Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor, and thou shalt fear thy God.
44And thy bondmen and thy bondmaids whom thou shalt have—of the nations that are round about you—of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
45Moreover of the children of those that dwell as sojourners with you, of them shall ye buy and of their families that [are] with you, which they beget in your land; and they shall be your possession.
46And ye shall make them as an inheritance to your children after you, to inherit as a possession: these ye shall make your bondmen forever; but your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigor.
47And if a stranger or a sojourner with thee become rich beside thee, and thy brother beside him grow poor, and sell himself to the stranger [or] sojourner with thee, or to a descendant of the stranger's family:
48after he is sold, there shall be right of redemption for him; one of his brethren may redeem him;
49or his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any of his next of kin of his family may redeem him; or if he may obtain the means, he may redeem himself.
50And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he sold himself to him unto the year of jubilee; and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of the years; according to the days of a hired servant shall he be with him.
51If [there be] yet many years, according to them shall he return his redemption out of the money he was bought for.
52And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubilee, then he shall reckon with him; according to his years shall he return the price of his redemption.
53As a hired servant shall he be with him year by year: he shall not rule with rigor over him before thine eyes.
54And if he be not redeemed by these [means], then he shall go out in the year of jubilee, he and his children with him.
55For to me the children of Israel [are] servants; they [are] my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I [am] Jehovah your God.
1Ye shall make yourselves no idols, nor rear yourselves carved image or statue, nor shall ye set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I [am] Jehovah your God.
2Ye shall observe my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I [am] Jehovah.
3If ye walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,
4then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;
5and your treading out shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing-time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.
6And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make [you] afraid: and I will put away the evil beasts out of the land; and the sword shall not go through your land.
7And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword;
8and five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
9And I will turn my face toward you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
10And ye shall eat old store and clear off the old because of the new.
11And I will set my habitation among you; and my soul shall not abhor you;
12and I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
13I [am] Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you walk upright.
14But if ye hearken not unto me, and do not all these commandments,
15and if ye shall despise my statutes, and if your soul shall abhor mine ordinances, so that ye do not all my commandments, that ye break my covenant,
16I also will do this unto you: I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and fever, which shall cause the eyes to fail, and the soul to waste away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17And I will set my face against you, that ye may be routed before your enemies: they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18And if for this ye hearken not unto me, I will punish you sevenfold more for your sins,
19and I will break the arrogance of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron and your earth as bronze;
20and your strength shall be spent in vain; and your land shall not yield its produce, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.
21And if ye walk contrary to me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring sevenfold more plagues upon you, according to your sins.
22And I will send the beasts of the field among you, that they may rob you of your children, and cut off your cattle, and make you few in number; and your streets shall be desolate.
23And if ye will not be disciplined by me through these, but walk contrary to me,
24then will I also walk contrary to you, and will smite you, even I, sevenfold for your sins.
25And I will bring a sword upon you that avengeth with the vengeance of the covenant, and ye shall be gathered into your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
26When I break the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver you the bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
27And if for all this ye hearken not to me, but walk contrary to me,
28then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you sevenfold for your sins.
29And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
30And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.
31And I will lay waste your cities, and desolate your sanctuaries, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.
32And I will bring the land into desolation, that your enemies who dwell therein may be astonished at it.
33And I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be desolation, and your cities waste.
34Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths all the days of her desolation, when ye [are] in your enemies' land; then shall the land rest and enjoy her Sabbaths.
35All the days of the desolation it shall rest; in which it rested not on your Sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
36And as to those that remain of you, I will send faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies, and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee as one fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth;
37and they shall stumble one over another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
38And ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
39And they that remain of you shall waste away through their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them.
40And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, through their unfaithfullness wherein they were unfaithful to me, and also that they have walked contrary to me,
41so [that] I also walked contrary to them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,
42I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
43For the land shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its Sabbaths, when it is in desolation without them; and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because, they despised my judgments, and their soul despised my statutes.
44And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them, and will not abhor them, to make an end of them utterly, and to break my covenant with them, for I [am] Jehovah their God.
45But I will remember toward them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be their God: I [am] Jehovah.
46These [are] the statutes and ordinances and laws which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses,
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, When a man devoteth by a vow, the persons [shall be] for Jehovah by thy valuation.
3And thy valuation shall be of the male from twenty years old even to sixty years old: even thy valuation shall be sixty shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary.
4And if for a female, then thy valuation shall be thirty shekels.
5And if from five years old even to twenty years old, then thy valuation of the male shall be twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.
6And if from a month old even to five years old, then thy valuation of the male shall be five shekels of silver, and for the female thy valuation [shall be] three shekels of silver.
7And if from sixty years old and above, if a male, then thy valuation shall be fifteen shekels; and for the female ten shekels.
8And if he be poorer than thy valuation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his means that vowed shall the priest value him.
9And if it be] a beast of which men offer an offering to Jehovah, all that they give of such to Jehovah shall be holy.
10They shall not alter it nor change it; a good for a bad nor a bad for a good; and if he at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.
11And if any unclean beast, of which they do not offer an offering to Jehovah, then he shall present the beast before the priest;
12and the priest shall value it, between good and bad: according to thy valuation, O priest, so shall it be.
13And if they will in any wise redeem it, then they shall add a fifth thereof according to thy valuation.
14And when anyone halloweth his house, that it may be holy to Jehovah, the priest shall value it, between good and bad: as the priest shall value it, so shall it stand.
15And if he that halloweth it will redeem his house, he shall add the fifth of the money of thy valuation to it, and it shall be his.
16And if a man hallow to Jehovah out of a field of his possession, thy valuation shall be according to the seed thereof: the homer of barley seed at fifty shekels of silver.
17If he hallow his field from the year of jubilee, according to thy valuation it shall stand;
18but if he hallow his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain until the year of the jubilee, and there shall be a reduction from thy valuation.
19And if he that hallowed the field will in any wise redeem it, he shall add the fifth of the money of thy valuation unto it, and it shall be assured to him;
20but if he do not redeem the field, or if he sell the field to another man, it cannot be redeemed anymore;
21and the field when it goeth out in the jubilee, shall be holy to Jehovah as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.
22And if he hallow to Jehovah a field that he hath bought, which [is] not the field of his possession,
23the priest shall reckon to him the amount of thy valuation unto the year of the jubilee; and he shall give thy valuation on that day, holy unto Jehovah.
24In the year of the jubilee the field shall return to him of whom it was bought, to him to whom the possession of the land [belonged].
25And all thy valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.
26Only the firstling among beasts, which is made a firstling to Jehovah, no man shall sanctify it: whether [it be] ox or sheep, it [is] Jehovah's.
27And if [it be] of an unclean beast, then he shall ransom [it] according to thine estimation, and shall add to it the fifth thereof; or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thine estimation.
28Notwithstanding, no devoted thing that a man shall devote to Jehovah of all that he hath, of man or beast, or of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing [is] most holy to Jehovah.
29None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.
30And all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land, [or] of the fruit of the tree, [is] Jehovah's, holy to Jehovah.
31And if a man will redeem [aught] of his tithe, he shall add to it the fifth thereof.
32And all the tithe of the herd or the flock, whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Jehovah.
33He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it; and if he change it at all, then both it and that for which it is changed shall be holy: it shall not be redeemed.
34These [are] the commandments which Jehovah commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai. (Lev. 1:1‑27:34)
