Morning and Jesus

Dark was the night-time and stormy,
Wildly the sea-breakers roar,
But with the morning came Jesus:
Jesus stood there on the shore.
Is it not always the story:
Night, with her dark, heavy eyes,
Bringeth the morning and Jesus,
Glad with a waking surprise?
So will the last conflict meet us,
Death can but carry us o’er;
Then will be morning, and Jesus:
Jesus will stand on the shore.
