44-47: The offices of priests and Levites appointed in the temple.We have in this chapter a record of little more than the names of a great many priests and Levites, that were eminent in their day among the returned Jews.

It is good to know what our godly ancestors and predecessors were, that we may learn thereby what we should be.the priests.

⁸Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy companions that sit before thee: for they are men of a sign or portent: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
⁹For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon the one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. (Zech. 3:1‑9)
