One Hundred, Sixty-Six Thousand

Do you know that today approximately 166,000 people will die? Do you also know that you cannot say with absolute certainty that you will not be one of them?
Even if you enjoy perfect health, who can say they may not fall victim to a fatal accident in the next 24 hours? Because this life is so uncertain, the question needs to be raised: Are you ready to meet your Maker?
“Prepare to meet thy God,” a verse in the Bible reads (Amos 4:1212Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. (Amos 4:12)). Only those who prepare to meet God by renouncing their sins and believing in the name of God’s Son will make it home to heaven. Repentance and faith are absolutely necessary because we are sinners who are far from being righteous.
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:1818Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18)).
The blood the Lord Jesus shed on the cross has the power to wash away every stain of sin. “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:77In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)). Oh, the wonderful grace of God that brings forgiveness and new life to those who believe in Christ!
It is certain that we are sinners needing forgiveness. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:2323For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)).
It is also certain that one day we will leave this earth and stand before God as judge. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:2727And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)).
Will you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and the wonderful work He did at the cross? Or will you continue on in unbelief and indifference to the Lord who died to redeem you?
You might be given one day, or several thousand more days to spend on earth, but it is certain one day will be the last. Where you spend eternity depends on what you do with the Lord Jesus. Be wise and trust the Savior.
