Power of God, the.

Is one of His attributes. Psa. 62:11¹¹God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. (Psalm 62:11).

Voice of God. Psa. 29:3,5³The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. (Psalm 29:3)
⁵The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. (Psalm 29:5). Psa. 68:33³³To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice. (Psalm 68:33).

Finger of God. Ex. 8:19¹⁹Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said. (Exodus 8:19). Psa. 8:3³When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; (Psalm 8:3).

Hand of God. Ex. 9:3,15³Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain. (Exodus 9:3)
¹⁵For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth. (Exodus 9:15). Isa. 48:13¹³Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. (Isaiah 48:13).

Arm of God. Job 40:9⁹Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? (Job 40:9). Isa. 52:10¹⁰The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:10).

Thunder of His power, &c. Job 26:14¹⁴Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? (Job 26:14).

Great. Psa. 79:11¹¹Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; (Psalm 79:11). Nah. 1:3³The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. (Nahum 1:3).

Strong. Psa. 89:13¹³Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. (Psalm 89:13). Psa. 136:12¹²With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 136:12).

Glorious. Ex. 15:6⁶Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. (Exodus 15:6). Isa. 63:12¹²That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? (Isaiah 63:12).

Mighty. Job 9:4⁴He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? (Job 9:4). Psa. 89:13¹³Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. (Psalm 89:13).

Everlasting. Isa. 26:4⁴Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (Isaiah 26:4). Rom. 1:20²⁰For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Romans 1:20).

Sovereign. Rom. 9:21²¹Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor? (Romans 9:21).

Effectual. Isa. 43:13¹³Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? (Isaiah 43:13). Eph. 3:7⁷Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. (Ephesians 3:7).

Irresistible. Deut. 32:39³⁹See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. (Deuteronomy 32:39). Dan. 4:35³⁵And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (Daniel 4:35).

Incomparable. Ex. 15:11, 12¹¹Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹²Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. (Exodus 15:11‑12). Deu. 3:24. Job 40:9⁹Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? (Job 40:9). Psa. 89:8⁸O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? (Psalm 89:8).

Unsearchable. Job 5:9⁹Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: (Job 5:9). Job 9:10¹⁰Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. (Job 9:10).

Incomprehensible. Job 26:14¹⁴Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? (Job 26:14). Ecc. 3:11.

All things possible to. Matt. 19:26²⁶But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26).

Nothing too hard for. Gen. 18:14¹⁴Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. (Genesis 18:14). Jer. 32:27²⁷Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27).

Can save by many or by few. 1 Sam. 14:6⁶And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. (1 Samuel 14:6).

Is the source of all strength. 1 Chron. 29:12¹²Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. (1 Chronicles 29:12). Psa. 68:35³⁵O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God. (Psalm 68:35).

Creation. Psa. 102:25²⁵Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. (Psalm 102:25). Jer. 10:12¹²He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. (Jeremiah 10:12).

Establishing and governing all things. Psa. 65:6⁶Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power: (Psalm 65:6). Psa. 66:7⁷He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. (Psalm 66:7).

The miracles of Christ. Luke 11:20²⁰But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. (Luke 11:20).

The resurrection of Christ. 2 Cor. 13:4⁴For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. (2 Corinthians 13:4). Col. 2:12¹²Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (Colossians 2:12).

The resurrection of saints. 1 Cor. 6:14¹⁴And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. (1 Corinthians 6:14).

Making the gospel effectual. Rom. 1:16¹⁶For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16). 1 Cor. 1:18,24¹⁸For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
²⁴But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:24).

Delivering His people. Psa. 106:8⁸Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. (Psalm 106:8).

The destruction of the wicked. Ex. 9:16¹⁶And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. (Exodus 9:16). Rom. 9:22²²What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: (Romans 9:22).

SAINTS

Long for exhibitions of. Psa. 63:1, 2¹<<A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.>> O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; ²To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. (Psalm 63:1‑2).

Have confidence in. Jer. 20:11¹¹But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. (Jeremiah 20:11).

Receive increase of grace by. 2 Cor. 9:8⁸And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Strengthened by. Eph. 6:10¹⁰Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10). Col. 1:11¹¹Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; (Colossians 1:11).

Upheld by. Psa. 37:17¹⁷For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous. (Psalm 37:17). Isa. 41:10¹⁰Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10).

Supported in affliction by. 2 Cor. 6:7⁷By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, (2 Corinthians 6:7). 2 Tim. 1:8⁸Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; (2 Timothy 1:8).

Delivered by. Neh. 1:10¹⁰Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand. (Nehemiah 1:10). Dan. 3:17¹⁷If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. (Daniel 3:17).

Exalted by. Job 36:22²²Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him? (Job 36:22).

Kept by, unto salvation. 1 Peter 1:5⁵Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:5).

Exerted in behalf of saints. 2 Chr. 16:9⁹For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Works in, and for saints. 2 Cor. 13:4⁴For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. (2 Corinthians 13:4). Eph. 1:19¹⁹And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (Ephesians 1:19). Eph. 3:20²⁰Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20).

The faith of saints stands in. 1 Cor. 2:5⁵That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5).

SHOULD BE

Acknowledged. 1 Chron. 29:11¹¹Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all. (1 Chronicles 29:11). Isa. 33:13¹³Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. (Isaiah 33:13).

Pleaded in prayer. Psa. 79:11¹¹Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; (Psalm 79:11). Matt. 6:13¹³And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13).

Feared. Jer. 5:22²²Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? (Jeremiah 5:22). Matt. 10:28²⁸And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28).

Magnified. Psa. 21:13¹³Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power. (Psalm 21:13). Jude 25²⁵To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 25).

Efficiency of ministers is through. 1 Cor. 3:6-8⁶I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. ⁷So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. ⁸Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. (1 Corinthians 3:6‑8). Gal. 2:8⁸(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) (Galatians 2:8). Eph. 3:7⁷Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. (Ephesians 3:7).

Is a ground of trust. Isa. 26:4⁴Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (Isaiah 26:4) Rom. 4:12¹²And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. (Romans 4:12).

THE WICKED

Know not. Matt. 22:29²⁹Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. (Matthew 22:29).

Have against them. Ezra 8:22²²For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. (Ezra 8:22).

Shall be destroyed by. Luke 12:5⁵But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 12:5).

The heavenly host magnify. Rev. 4:11¹¹Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11). Rev. 5:13¹³And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. (Revelation 5:13). Rev. 11:17¹⁷Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. (Revelation 11:17).
