Isa. 49:14‑26• 14But Zion said, Jehovah hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.
15Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of [my] hands: thy walls [are] continually before me.
17Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth from thee.
18Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, [and] come to thee. [As] I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them [on thee], as a bride [doeth].
19For [in] thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, thou shalt even now be too straitened by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.
20The children of thy bereavement shall yet say in thine ears, The place [is] too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
21And thou shalt say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these (seeing I had lost my children, and was desolate, a captive, and driven to and fro)? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where [were] they?
22Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my ensign to the peoples; and they shall bring thy sons in [their] bosom, and thy daughters shall be carried upon [their] shoulders.
23And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with [their] faces to the earth, and lick the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I [am] Jehovah, and they that wait for me shall not be ashamed.
24Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered?
25For thus saith Jehovah, Even the captive of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: and I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
26And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine and all flesh shall know that I Jehovah [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. (Isa. 49:14‑26)
Isa. 60:1‑22• 1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of Jehovah is risen upon thee.
2For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples: but Jehovah will arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3And nations shall walk in thy light, and kings in the brightness of thy rising.
4Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons come from far, and thy daughters are nursed upon the side.
5Then thou shalt see and be brightened, and thy heart shall throb and be enlarged; for the abundance of the sea shall be turned unto thee, the wealth of the nations shall come unto thee.
6A multitude of camels shall cover thee, dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense, and they shall show forth the praises of Jehovah.
7All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall serve thee; they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will beautify the house of my magnificence.
8Who [are] these [that] fly as a cloud, and as doves to their dovecotes?
9Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of Jehovah thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.
10And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
11Therefore thy gates shall be open continually (they shall not be shut day nor night); that [men] may bring unto thee the wealth of the nations, and [that] their kings [may be] brought.
12For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, [those] nations shall be utterly wasted.
13The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the cypress, the pine, and the box-tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
14The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of Jehovah, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15Instead of thy being forsaken and hated, so that no man went through [thee], I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.
16Thou shalt also suck the milk of the nations, and shalt suck the breast of kings; and thou shalt know that I Jehovah [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
17For bronze I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood bronze, and for stones iron; I will also make thine officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
18Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
19The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee; but Jehovah shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
20Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for Jehovah shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
21Thy people also [shall be] all righteous: they shall possess the land forever—the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
22The little one shall become a thousand, and the smallest a strong nation: I Jehovah will hasten it in its time. (Isa. 60:1‑22)
Isa. 61:3‑11• 3to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, that beauty be given them instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he might be glorified.
4And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and aliens' sons [shall be] your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6But ye shall be named Priests of Jehovah: they shall call you Ministers of our God. Ye shall eat the wealth of the nations, and into their glory shall ye enter.
7Instead of your shame [ye shall have] double; [instead of] confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double; everlasting joy shall be unto them.
8For I Jehovah love judgment, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
9And their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] a seed Jehovah hath blessed.
10I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with the turban, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.
11For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord Jehovah will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. (Isa. 61:3‑11)
Isa. 62:1‑12• 1For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp [that] burneth.
2And the nations shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory; and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah shall name.
3Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
4Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken, neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah; for Jehovah delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
5For [as] a young man marrieth a virgin, shall thy sons marry thee; and with the joy of the bridegroom over the bride shall thy God rejoice over thee.
6I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace all day and all night: ye that put Jehovah in remembrance, take ye no rest,
7and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make, Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
8Jehovah hath sworn by His right hand, and by the arm of His strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn [to be] meat for thine enemies; and sons of the alien shall not drink thy wine, for which thou hast laboured;
9for they that have garnered it shall eat it, and praise Jehovah; and they that have gathered it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
10Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the peoples.
11Behold, Jehovah hath proclaimed unto the end of the earth, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward [is] with him, and his recompense before him.
12And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of Jehovah: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken. (Isa. 62:1‑12)
Ezek. 36:2,11‑38• 2Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient heights are become our possession;
11and I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
12Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men.
13Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations;
14therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations anymore, saith the Lord Jehovah.
15Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen anymore, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people anymore, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall anymore, saith the Lord Jehovah.
16And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
17Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
18And I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it;
19and I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
20And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of Jehovah, and are gone forth out of his land.
21But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.
22Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
23And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am Jehovah, saith the Lord Jehovah, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
29I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.
30And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.
31Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
32Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord Jehovah, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
33Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.
34And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.
35And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
36Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I Jehovah build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I Jehovah have spoken it, and I will do it.
37Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.
38As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am Jehovah. (Ezek. 36:2,11‑38)
Ezek. 40:1‑49• 1In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the self-same day the hand of Jehovah was upon me, and brought me thither.
2In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, and upon it was as it were a city on the south.
3And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.
4And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall show thee; for to the intent that I might show them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
5And behold, there was a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring-reed of six cubits, each of one cubit and a hand breadth. And he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
6And he came to the gate which looked toward the east, and went up its steps; and he measured the threshold of the gate, one reed broad; and the other threshold one reed broad.
7And each chamber was one reed long and one reed broad; and between the chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate, beside the porch of the gate within, was one reed.
8And he measured the porch of the gate within, one reed.
9And he measured the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward.
10And the chambers of the gate which was toward the east were three on this side and three on that side: they three were of one measure; and the posts on this side and on that side had one measure.
11And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
12And there was a border before the chambers of one cubit, and a border of one cubit on the other side; and the chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.
13And he measured the gate from the roof of one chamber to the roof of the other , a breadth of five and twenty cubits, entry opposite entry.
14And he made posts, sixty cubits, and by the post was the court of the gate round about.
15And from the front of the gate of the entrance unto the front of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits.
16And there were closed windows to the chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the projections; and the windows round about were inward; and upon each post were palm-trees.
17And he brought me into the outer court, and behold, there were cells, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty cells were upon the pavement.
18And the pavement was by the side of the gates, answering to the length of the gates, namely the lower pavement.
19And he measured the breadth from the front of the lower gate unto the front of the inner court outside, a hundred cubits eastward and northward.
20And the gate of the outer court, that looked toward the north, he measured its length and its breadth.
21And its chambers were three on this side and three on that side; and its posts and its projections were according to the measure of the first gate: its length was fifty cubits, and breadth five and twenty cubits.
22And its windows, and its projections, and its palm-trees were according to the measure of the gate that looked toward the east; and they went up to it by seven steps; and the projections thereof were before them.
23And the gate of the inner court was opposite to the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate a hundred cubits.
24And he brought me toward the south: and behold, there was a gate toward the south; and he measured its posts and its projections according to these measures.
25And there were windows to it and to its projections round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
26And there were seven steps to go up to it; and its projections were before them; and it had palm-trees, one on this side and one on that side, upon its posts.
27And there was a gate to the inner court toward the south; and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubits.
28And he brought me into the inner court by the south gate; and he measured the south gate according to these measures:
29and its chambers, and its posts, and its projections, according to these measures; and there were windows to it and to its projections round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
30And there were projections round about, twenty-five cubits long, and five cubits broad.
31And its projections were toward the outer court; and there were palm-trees upon its posts: and its ascent was by eight steps.
32And he brought me into the inner court toward the east; and he measured the gate according to these measures:
33and its chambers, and its posts, and its projections, according to these measures; and there were windows to it and to its projections round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
34And its projections were toward the outer court; and there were palm-trees upon its posts on this side and on that side: and its ascent was by eight steps.
35And he brought me to the north gate, and he measured it according to these measures:
36its chambers, its posts, and its projections; and there were windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
37And its posts were toward the outer court; and there were palm-trees upon its posts, on this side and on that side: and its ascent was by eight steps.
38And there was a cell and its entry by the posts of the gates; there they rinsed the burnt-offering.
39And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt-offering and the sin-offering and the trespass-offering.
40And at the side without, at the ascent to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables:
41four tables on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate, —eight tables, whereon they slew the sacrifice ,
42—and at the ascent, four tables of hewn stone, of a cubit and a half long, and a cubit and a half broad, and one cubit high; whereon also they laid the instruments with which they slew the burnt-offering and the sacrifice.
43And the double hooks of a hand breadth were fastened round about within; and upon the tables they put the flesh of the offering.
44And outside the inner gate were two cells in the inner court, one at the side of the north gate, and its front towards the south; the other was at the side of the south gate, the front towards the north.
45And he said unto me, This cell whose front is towards the south is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
46And the cell whose front is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, those who, from among the sons of Levi, approach unto Jehovah to minister unto him.
47And he measured the court, the length a hundred cubits, and the breadth a hundred cubits, four square: and the altar was before the house.
48And he brought me to the porch of the house; and he measured the post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side; and the breadth of the gate, three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
49The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits, even by the steps whereby they went up to it; and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and one on that side. (Ezek. 40:1‑49)
Ezek. 48:1‑35• 1Now these [are] the names of the tribes:
2And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side; Asher, one.
3And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side; Naphtali, one.
4And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side; Manasseh, one.
5And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side; Ephraim, one.
6And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side; Reuben, one.
7And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side; Judah, one.
8And by the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the oblation which ye shall offer, five and twenty thousand in breadth, and in length as one of the parts, from the east side to the west side; and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
9The oblation that ye shall offer unto Jehovah [shall be] of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth.
10And for them, [even] for the priests, shall be [this] holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand [in length], and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of Jehovah shall be in the midst thereof.
11[It shall be] for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.
12And [this] oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites.
13And over against the border of the priests the Levites [shall have] five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length [shall be] five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.
14And they shall, not sell of it, neither exchange, nor alienate the firstfruits of the land; for [it is] holy unto Jehovah.
15And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a profane [place] for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst thereof.
16And these [shall be] the measures thereof: the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.
17And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
18And the residue in length over against the oblation of the holy [portion shall be] ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the oblation of the holy [portion]; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
19And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
20All the oblation [shall be] five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.
21And the residue [shall be] for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy oblation; and the sanctuary of the house [shall be] in the midst thereof.
22Moreover, from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, [being] in the midst [of that] which is the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
23As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side unto the west side; Benjamin, one.
24And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side; Simeon, one.
25And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side; Issachar, one.
26And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side; Zebulun, one.
27And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side; Gad, one.
28And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar [unto] the waters of strife [in] Kadesh, [and] to the river toward the great sea.
29This [is] the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these [are] their portions, saith the Lord Jehovah.
30And these [are] the goings forth of the city: on the north side four thousand and five hundred measures;
31and the gates of the city [shall be] according to the names of the tribes of Israel; three gates northward, one gate of Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
32And at the east side four thousand and five hundred: and three gates; and one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan.
33And at the south side four thousand and five hundred measures: and three gates; one gate of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun.
34At the west side four thousand and five hundred, [with] their three gates; one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali.
35[It was] round about eighteen thousand [measures]; and the name of the city from [that] day [shall be], Jehovah [is] there. (Ezek. 48:1‑35)
Rev. 21:10‑27• 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven from God, having the glory of God.
11Its light was like a stone most precious, as a jasper stone clear as crystal;
12it had a wall great and high; it had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel:
13on the east three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15And he that talked with me had a golden measuring rod to measure the city and the gates of it and the wall of it.
16And the city lieth quadrangular, and the length of it is as much as the breadth; and he measured the city with the reed (twelve thousand stadia: the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17And he measured the wall of it, an hundred forty and four cubits, a man's measure which is of the angel.
18And the building of its wall was jasper; and the city pure gold like pure glass.
19The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone; the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolyte, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprasus, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.
21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates severally was of one pearl: and the street of the city pure gold as transparent glass.
22And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God the Almighty is the temple of it, and the Lamb.
23And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon, that they should shine on it: for the glory of God illumined it, and the Lamb is the lamp of it.
24And the nations shall walk by its light; and the kings of the earth bring their glory unto it.
25And the gates of it shall in no wise be shut by day: for there shall be no night there.
26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations unto it.
27And there shall in no wise enter into it anything common, and one practicing abomination and a lie; but those that are written in the Lamb's book of life. (Rev. 21:10‑27)
