(dwelling place). The visible majesty of God, as in the “pillar of cloud” and the “glory” which covered the tabernacle and filled Solomon’s temple. A word found only in the targums, Chaldaic version of Bible, and among early Christian writers. Alluded to (Luke 2:9⁹And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. (Luke 2:9); John 1:14¹⁴And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14); Rom. 9:4⁴Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; (Romans 9:4)).
