• {v.6-9}  An appeal is made, a summons issued, to those who had not yet returned, to come and share in the blessing. And not only this, but it is also a warning to escape from the judgments about to fall upon those whose captives they at this time were. (Compare Isa. 48:20; Jer. 51:6.) The land of the north is thus clearly Chaldea, the Babylonian empire, throughout which the Jews were scattered — “spread abroad as the four winds of heaven.” (“Zechariah 2” by E. Dennett)
