Ex. 40:1‑38• 1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2On the day of the first month, on the first of the month, shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
3And thou shalt put in it the ark of the testimony, and shalt cover the ark with the veil.
4And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it. And thou shalt bring in the candlestick and light its lamps.
5And thou shalt set the golden altar for the incense before the ark of the testimony; and hang up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle.
6And thou shalt set the altar of burnt-offering before the entrance of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
7And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water in it.
8And thou shalt fix the court round about, and hang up the curtain at the gate of the court.
9And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shalt hallow it, and all its utensils; and it shall be holy.
10And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its utensils; and thou shalt hallow the altar, and the altar shall be most holy.
11And thou shalt anoint the laver and its stand, and hallow it.
12And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons near, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and bathe them with water.
13And thou shalt clothe Aaron with the holy garments, and anoint him, and hallow him, that he may serve me as priest.
14And thou shalt bring his sons near, and clothe them with vests.
15And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may serve me as priests. And their anointing shall be to them an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

32when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they drew near to the altar, they washed; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
33And he set up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the curtain of the gate of the court. And so Moses finished the work.
34And the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
35And Moses could not enter into the tent of meeting, for the cloud abode on it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
36And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel journeyed in all their journeys.
37And if the cloud were not taken up, then they did not journey until the day that it was taken up.
38For the cloud of Jehovah was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, before the eyes of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

11And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand judgment;
12behold, I have done according to thy word: behold, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there hath been none like unto thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and glory; so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will prolong thy days.

2 Chron. 1:3,13• 3and Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place at Gibeon; for there was God's tent of meeting which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness.
13Then Solomon came back from the high place at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigned over Israel.

 During this intermediate period the brazen altar, the tent, and the vessels of service were at Gibeon, no longer associated with the ark. One could approach the ark at Zion, but without the sacrifice which was the only way into the sanctuary; one could approach the altar at Gibeon, but this would only give access to the holy place which was completely empty. The relationship between the altar and the ark seemed to be lost forever through the unfaithfulness of the priesthood. This truth that the altar—expiation—was the means necessary to gain access to God's throne, and that without it, it was impossible for the Lord to dwell in grace in the midst of His people, had to be established anew completely. The ark was in Zion; it was asserting its place on the mountain of grace, but could it be enthroned there unless the question of sin were definitely settled?
