John 1:1‑3:36• 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him, and without him not one thing was made which hath been made.
4In him was life: and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.
6There was a man sent from God—his name John.
7The same came for witness that he might witness about the light , that all might believe through him.
8He was not the light, but that he might witness about the light.
9The true light was that which, coming into the world ., lighteth every man
10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not;
12but as many as received him, to them he gave authority to become children of God , to those that believe on his name;
13who were born not of blood, nor of flesh's will, nor of man's will, but of God.
14And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only-begotten from beside a father), full of grace and truth.
15John witnesseth about him, and hath cried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is become before me, for he was before me,
16and of his fullness all we received, and grace for grace.
17For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18No one hath seen God at any time: the only-begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father—he declared [him].
19And this is the witness of John when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites that they might ask him, Who art thou?
20And he confessed, and denied not, and confessed, I am not the Christ.
21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
22They said therefore to him, Who art thou, that we may give an answer to those that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself?
23He said, I [am the] voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of Jehovah, as said Isaiah the prophet.
24And they were sent from among the Pharisees;
25and they asked him and said to him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
26John answered them saying, I baptize with water: in the midst of you standeth, whom ye know not,
27he who cometh after me, of whom I am not worthy to unloose the thong of his sandal.
28These things took place in Bethany, across the Jordan where John was baptizing.
29On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world!
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me, for he was before me.
31And I knew him not, but that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore came I baptizing with water.
32And John bore witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and it abode upon him.
33And I knew him not; but he that sent me to baptize with water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, this is he that baptizeth with [the] Holy Spirit.
34And I have seen and borne witness that this is the Son of God.
35Again, on the morrow, stood John and two of his disciples;
36and, looking at Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
37and the two disciples heard him speak, and followed Jesus.
38But Jesus, having turned and beheld them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abidest thou?
39He saith to them, Come and see. They went therefore and saw where he abode, and abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
40Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two that heard [it] from John and followed him.
41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah (which interpreted is Christ),
42and he led him to Jesus. Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon, the son of Jonah; thou shalt be called Cephas (which is interpreted Peter).
43On the morrow he would go forth into Galilee, and Jesus findeth Philip and saith to him, Follow me.
44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus from Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
48Nathanael saith to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49Nathanael answered [and saith to] him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.
50Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51And he saith to him, Verily, verily, I say to you [Henceforth] ye shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.
2And Jesus also was invited and his disciples unto the marriage.
3And when the wine fell short, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4Jesus saith to her, What have I to do with thee, woman? mine hour is not yet come.
5His mother saith to the servants, Whatever he shall say to you, do.
6Now there were six waterpots of stone set there according to the purification of the Jews, holding each two or three measures.
7Jesus saith to them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8And he saith to them, Draw now and carry to the master of the feast. And they carried.
9But when the master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine (and he knew not whence it was, but the servants that had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast calleth the bridegroom
10and saith to him, Every man at first setteth on the good wine, and when they have drunk freely, then the worse; thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11This beginning of signs did Jesus at Cana of Galilee, and he manifested his glory, and his disciples believed on him.
12After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.
13And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14And he found in the temple the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting;
15and having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the change of the money-changers, and overthrew their tables;
16and to the sellers of the doves he said, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.
17[And] his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thine house will eat me up.
18The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign showest thou to us that thou doest these things?
19Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.
20The Jews therefore said, In forty and six years was this temple built, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
21But he spoke of the temple of his body.
22When therefore he was raised from among [the] dead, his disciples remembered that he said this; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus said.
23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, at the feast, many believed on his name, beholding his signs which he did.
24But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them, inasmuch as he knew all [men],
25and because he needed not that any should testify of man, for himself knew what was in man.
1But there was a man of the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2He came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God, for none can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.
3Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into the womb of his mother and be born?
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except one be born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7Wonder not that I said to thee, Ye must be born anew.
8The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest its voice, but knowest not whence it cometh, and where it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
10Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel and knowest not these things?
11Verily, verily, I say to thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.
12If I told you the earthly things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you the heavenly things?
13And no one hath gone up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, the Son of man that is in heaven.
14And even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up;
15that every one that believeth on him should [not perish, but] have life eternal.
16For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, that every one that believeth on him should not perish but have life eternal.
17For God sent not his Son into the world that he should judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
18He that believeth on him is not judged; but he that believeth not hath been already judged, because he hath not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
19And this is the judgment, that the light hath come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not unto the light lest his works should be convicted;
21but he that practiceth the truth cometh unto the light, that his works may be manifested that they have been wrought in God.
22After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there he was tarrying with them and baptizing.
23And John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because much water was there; and they were coming there and being baptized:
24for John was not yet cast into prison.
25There arose then a dispute on the part of the disciples of John with a Jew about purification.
26And they came unto John and said to him, Rabbi, he who was with thee across the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, he is baptizing and all come unto him.
27John answered and said, A man can receive nothing unless it have been given him from heaven.
28Ye yourselves bear me witness that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29He that hath the bride is [the] bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom that standeth and heareth him rejoiceth with joy because of the voice of the bridegroom: this my joy then is fulfilled.
30He must increase, but I decrease.
31He that cometh from above is above all. He that is of the earth is of the earth, and speaketh [as] of the earth; he that cometh of the heaven is above all,
32and what he hath seen and heard, this he testifieth; and no one receiveth his testimony.
33He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true;
34for he whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for God giveth not the Spirit by measure.
35The Father loveth the Son and hath put all things in his hand.
36He that believeth on the Son hath life eternal, and he that believeth not on the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 1:1‑3:36)
