The words, "which were," though they are printed in italics in the KJV, are rightly inserted. The sense would be substantially the same whether you read it with those words or not: and therefore the English translators, seeing that it ought to be understood, but not knowing that it was really a part of the text, inserted the phrase in italics; but it ought to be adopted. The Revisers of 1881 rightly prefer them.

The word "and" is added before "pure" by many MSS. and the T. R., contrary to some of the best MSS.
