Hence judges or magistrates were in Hebrew called "Elohim," gods, as in Exod. 21:6, 22:8, 9; and so it should be in Ps. 82:1, 6, if not elsewhere. Thus is indicated with marked force and impressiveness their derivation of authority from God, Whose representatives they are responsibly in their office.
