 There are four terms employed in this passage to indicate this grievous form of the iniquity of God’s people: dealing treacherously (not, as in the preceding verse, with their brethren, but with God—compare Jer. 3:6-10), committing abomination—a frequent expression in the Scriptures for idolatry (see Jer. 4:1; Dan. 9:27; Matt. 24:15), profaning the holiness of the Lord which he had loved, and marrying the daughter of a strange god (vs. 11).
