 The Lord allows a certain period to go on as far as the many were concerned, but He measures the temple, and the altar, and them that worship therein for Himself. This remnant might be killed, but He values them. (Lectures on Revelation 11:1-18 by W. Kelly)
 Measuring the temple, the altar and the worshippers will signify that they are owned of and, it may be, appropriated or claimed by God. The T. R. adds "and the angel stood" before "saying." The addition was probably drawn from {vi 22916}{/vi}. The elliptical construction perplexed people, and disposed them to adopt some such interpolation. But there is no necessity, if we do adhere to the best authorities. The Revisers have rightly struck out the interpolation "the angel stood, saying." But they try to soften the singularity of the construction by their rendering "and one said." The Sinaitic MS. alone reads "said" but this is of no moment, especially in the Revelation, where slips of the kind are more than usually common.
