We are to maintain (or continue to do) good works. It’s not a question of doing one good deed and then patting ourselves on the back and thinking we’ve done our service for the Lord. No, we need to maintain good works. That is, our works of kindness and goodness to others should continue as a regular feature of our lives. This is just one way in which we can witness to others that we belong to the Lord. We are really doing just what Jesus would do if He were here.
