now.
the first-fruits.
He is said to be, as He was, raised from out of (ἐκ) dead men, as His saints will be at His coming or presence. In either case it is not only ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν, but ἐκ νεκρῶν (that is, resurrection of, but from among dead men), because in both cases other dead remain in their graves (Notes on 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 by W. Kelly)
Here He is viewed as man who has undergone death; and God intervenes, that He may not remain in it, because here the object is, not to show forth the glory of the Lord’s Person, but to prove our resurrection, since He, a dead man, has been raised. (1 Corinthians 15 by J.N. Darby)
Here He is viewed, not in His power to raise His enemies for judgment, but as the blessed spring of the resurrection of His own, firstfruits of those fallen asleep. Consequently He is said to be, as He was, raised from out of (ἐκ) dead men, as His saints will be at His coming or presence. (Notes on 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 by W. Kelly)
Resurrection from among the dead is also called “the first resurrection” (Rev. 20:5) and “the resurrection of the just” (Luke 14:14) and involves righteous persons only. There are at least ten accounts in Scripture of persons being raised from the dead, but none of them were of the order of the first resurrection (1 Kings 17:21-22; 2 Kings 4:34-36; 2 Kings 13:20-21; Matt. 9:24-25; 27:52-53; Luke 7:11-15; John 11:38-44; Acts 9:36-41; 14:19-20; 20:9-12). Those who will rise from among the dead at the first resurrection will rise in a glorified condition (Phil 3:21). Each of these ten mentioned accounts of persons who were raised from the dead, died again, and await resurrection. (9) Failure to Maintain Sound Doctrine by B. Anstey)
