About This Product
Foreword- It is with holy joy that I seek to introduce to you the poems of the late J. Danson Smith who was one of the most prolific poem-writers of all time. During my travels in many nations I have discovered something of the blessing these poems have been to many thousands. As those who were his friends know, there is hardly a Daily Devotional Book in the English language which does not contain at least one of Mr. Danson Smith’s poems.
To the ordinary believer, the poems have proved a comfort and consolation in dark nights of trial. To pastors, evangelists, and missionaries they have been a source of encouragement and inspiration. For example, the late Dr. Harry A. Ironside who pastored the Moody Memorial Church in Chicago was so blessed by them that he invited Mr. Danson Smith to come to Chicago and read them to his congregation of over two thousand people. He often quoted them in his messages.
These are poems of the heart. They are poems of deep spiritual maturity. Behind the poems was a man, and behind the man was his God Whom he knew in an intimate way. It was Mr. Danson Smith’s custom to get alone with the Lord, and it was during such times while waiting in the stillness with an open Bible before him, many of these messages came into being.
I thus lovingly commend them to the reader, praying that God’s richest blessing may rest upon them as they appear in permanent book form. I am sure that many of the readers will want to purchase further copies to give to their friends. – James Alexander Stewart
