 Receiving the wages of their iniquity, like the brethren of Joseph when they sold him to the Ishmaelites, they say, “Blessed be the Lord; for I am rich.” Their hearts were hardened, and thus it was that, while the true Israelites were killed all the day long, and were accounted as sheep for the slaughter (Ps. 44:22) their own shepherds, those who filled that place, pitied them not.
