Beauty for ashes He brought me,
Sweet oil of joy for my tears,
Anthems of praise He has taught me,
To replace the pain of my years.
Comfort He brings to the broken,
This Healer of grief-stricken hearts;
By blessed words He has spoken,
Love, joy, and peace He imparts.
High Hope is He to the hopeless,
While souls bound by sin He sets free;
A shelter of rest for the homeless,
A Help to the helpless is He.
Healing He brings to the ailing,
Yet, even at deaths final hour,
He promises life never failing,
For He is the Source of All Power.
Of Whom is my simple song singing?
This One Who gives beauty for shame?
Messiah, to Whom I am clinging,
Christ Jesus, The Lord, is His Name!

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.
