• Observe that there was no ostentation in the course he pursued. He continued in his usual course; it was “as he did aforetime.” He might have closed his windows and escaped observation, but to have done this, under the circumstances, would have been all one as if he were respecting the king’s decree. His windows had ever been open towards Jerusalem, and they must still be kept so. (“Daniel 6” by E. Dennett)
