Answer: Benjamin Franklin. It’s certainly true that none of us can cheat death or tell it what to do. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). However, we can be prepared for death and what follows it. I’m not talking about burial insurance, living life to the fullest or having no regrets. God tells us, “Prepare to meet thy God” (Amos 4:12). If you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, then you know this truth: “He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). If you don’t know Jesus as your Saviour, then there will never be a more important moment to come to Him in repentance than now.
