Full text of Danger! Where Will You Spend Eternity?
This solemn question is staring you in the face. Life is vanishing quickly. Soon you will enter eternity. Will you spend it in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ, or in hell with the devil and his angels? You have no other choice.
I plead with you to accept Christ before it’s too late. Accept the offer of God’s salvation without trying to clean up your life first. Tell Him that you are a sinner and that you want Him as your Savior. “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).
Every tick of the clock is bringing us nearer ETERNITY. Christ is knocking at your heart now. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
God’s Word tells us to accept Christ NOW, not tomorrow. No, dear friend, tomorrow may be too late. “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1).
Death may claim you at any moment. Are you prepared to meet a holy God? “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
“Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).
The book of life
God keeps books. Your name may be written on a church registry, but is it written in the Lamb’s book of life in heaven? I beg you to settle that most important question NOW.
Eternity! Where? Oh, friend, have a care!
For soon God will no longer His judgment forbear;
Eternity! Where? Oh! Eternity! Where?
This night may decide your Eternity: Where?
Eternity! Where? Eternity! Where?
Soon the Savior will come for His own in the air:
Then sleep not nor take in the world any share,
Till answered this question — Eternity: Where?
Stop and think for a moment of what Christ did on Calvary’s cross for you and for me, hell-deserving sinners as we are. He bore the judgment and wrath of God. He shed His precious blood to cleanse us from all our sins and make us fit for His presence.
The Immense Cost
Think what it cost the Lord of glory to come into this world, ruined by sin, to die that we might live with Him in heaven. It was wonderful love!
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
“Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
An evangelist once asked a prison warden for permission to see a criminal who was to be hanged the next morning. The warden told him he could only stay with the man three minutes. He quoted John 3:16 to him.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
He also quoted other scriptures, and at the end of three minutes he left.
The next day the servant of the Lord heard that the prisoner died with the word “Jesus” on his lips. He confessed that he was a sinner and that he needed a Savior. And God, in His wondrous grace, saved him at the last moment — just as he was entering eternity.
May this incident awaken you on your downward path and cause you to turn to the Lord Jesus. He is ready and willing to save you just as you are. He may not give YOU a chance to be saved at the last moment, like He did to the poor criminal. God’s time for you is NOW.
You may say, “Well, I do the best I can and go to church.” Yes, but good works and going to church will not save anyone. Salvation comes only through putting your trust in the Lord Jesus who died for sinners. All your good works are as filthy rags in God’s sight. (See Isaiah 64:6.)
I plead with you once more to accept Christ as your Savior now, before it’s too late.
