2{i}For that leaders led in Israel,{HR}For that the people willingly offered themselves,{HR}Bless Jehovah!{HR}{/i}
3{i}Hear, ye kings; give ear, ye princes,{HR}I, even I, will sing to Jehovah;{HR}I will hymn to Jehovah the God of Israel.{HR}{/i}
4{i}Jehovah, when thou wentest forth from Seir,{HR}When thou marchedst out of the fields of Edom,{HR}The earth trembled, and the heavens dropped,{HR}Yea, the clouds dropped water.{HR}{/i}
5{i}The mountains quaked before the face of Jehovah,{HR}That Sinai, from before Jehovah the God of Israel.{/i}
6{i}In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael,{HR}The roads were unused,{HR}And the travellers on highways went by crooked paths.{HR}{/i}
7{i}The villages ceased in Israel,{HR}Ceased until that I Deborah arose,{HR}That I arose a mother in Israel.{HR}{/i}
8{i}They chose new gods; then was war in the gates:{HR}Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?{/i}
9{i}My heart is toward the governors of Israel,{HR}Who offered themselves willingly among the people.{HR}Bless Jehovah!{HR}{/i}
10{i}Ye that ride on white she-asses,{HR}Ye that sit on carpets,{HR}And ye that walk by the way, consider.{HR}{/i}
11{i}Because of the voice of those who divide the spoil{HR}In the midst of the places of drawing water;{HR}There they rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah,{HR}His righteous acts toward his villages in Israel.{HR}Then the people of Jehovah went down to the gates.{/i}
12{i}Awake, awake, Deborah! awake, awake, utter a song!{HR}Arise, Barak, and lead captive thy captives, thou son of Abinoam!{HR}{/i}
13{i}Then come down, thou, the remnant of nobles, as his people;{HR}Jehovah! come down with me in the midst of the mighty ones.{HR}{/i}
14{i}Out of Ephraim came those whose root was in Amalek;{HR}After thee was Benjamin among thy peoples.{HR}Out of Machir came down governors,{HR}And out of Zebulun they that handled the staff of the ruler.{HR}{/i}
15{i}And the princes in Issachar were with Deborah;{HR}And Issachar, like Barak;{HR}They were sent into the valley at his feet.{HR}In the divisions of Reuben there were great resolves of heart!{HR}{/i}
16{i}Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds,{HR}To hear the bleating of the flocks?{HR}In the divisions of Reuben there were great deliberations of heart!{HR}{/i}
17{i}Gilead abode beyond Jordan;{HR}And Dan, why did he remain in ships?{HR}Asher sat on the sea-shore, And abode in his creeks.{HR}{/i}
18{i}Zebulun is a people that jeoparded their lives unto death,{HR}Naphtali also, on the high places of the field.{/i}
19{i}Kings came, —they fought;{HR}Then fought the kings of Canaan;{HR}At Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo;{HR}They took no spoil of silver.{HR}{/i}
20{i}From heaven was the fight;{HR}The stars from their courses fought with Sisera.{HR}{/i}
21{i}The torrent of Kishon swept them away,{HR}That ancient torrent, the torrent Kishon.{HR}My soul, thou hast trodden down strength!{HR}{/i}
22{i}Then did the horse-hoofs clatter with the coursings,{HR}The coursings of their steeds.{/i}
23{i}Curse Meroz, saith the Angel of Jehovah;{HR}Curse, curse the inhabitants thereof;{HR}For they came not to the help of Jehovah,{HR}To the help of Jehovah among the mighty.{/i}
24{i}Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be,{HR}Blessed above women in the tent!{HR}{/i}
25{i}He asked water, she gave milk;{HR}In the nobles' bowl she brought forth cream.{HR}{/i}
26{i}She put her hand to the tent-pin,{HR}And her right hand to the workmen's hammer;{HR}And she smote Sisera, she struck through his head,{HR}Shattered and pierced through his temples.{HR}{/i}
27{i}Between her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down:{HR}Between her feet he bowed, he fell;{HR}Where he bowed, there he fell, overcome.{/i}
28{i}Them other of Sisera looketh out at the window,{HR}And crieth through the lattice,{HR}Why is his chariot so long in coming?{HR}Why tarry the trampings of his chariots?{HR}{/i}
29{i}The wise amongst her ladies answer her,{HR}Yea, she returneth answer to herself,{HR}{/i}
30{i}Have they not found, divided the booty,{HR}A damsel, two damsels, to each?{HR}A booty of dyed stuffs for Sisera,{HR}A booty of dyed stuffs of embroidery,{HR}Dyed stuff of double embroidery for the neck of a spoiler?{/i}
31{i}So let all thine enemies perish, Jehovah!{HR}But let them that love him{HR}Be as the rising of the sun in its might.{/i} (Judg. 5:1‑31)
2 Sam. 22:1‑51• 1{i}And David spoke to Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul.{/i}
2{i}And he said,{HR}Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;{HR}{/i}
3{i}God is my rock, in him will I trust—{HR}My shield, and the horn of my salvation,{HR}My high tower, and my refuge,{HR}My saviour: thou wilt save me from violence.{HR}{/i}
4{i}I will call upon Jehovah, who is to be praised;{HR}So shall I be saved from mine enemies.{/i}
5{i}For the waves of death encompassed me,{HR}Torrents of Belial made me afraid.{HR}{/i}
6{i}The bands of Sheol surrounded me;{HR}The cords of death encountered me;{HR}{/i}
7{i}In my distress I called upon Jehovah,{HR}And I cried to my God;{HR}And he heard my voice out of his temple,{HR}And my cry came into his ears.{/i}
8{i}Then the earth shook, and quaked;{HR}The foundations of the heavens trembled{HR}And shook because he was wroth.{HR}{/i}
9{i}There went up a smoke out of his nostrils,{HR}And fire out of his mouth devoured:{HR}Coals burned forth from it.{HR}{/i}
10{i}And he bowed the heavens, and came down;{HR}And darkness was under his feet.{HR}{/i}

14{i}Jehovah thundered from the heavens,{HR}And the Most High uttered his voice.{HR}{/i}
15{i}And he sent arrows, and scattered mine enemies;{HR}Lightning, and discomfited them.{HR}{/i}
16{i}And the beds of the sea were seen,{HR}The foundations of the world were uncovered{HR}At the rebuke of Jehovah,{HR}At the blast of the breath of his nostrils.{/i}
17{i}He reached forth from above, he took me,{HR}He drew me out of great waters;{HR}{/i}
18{i}He delivered me from my strong enemy,{HR}From them that hated me;{HR}For they were mightier than I.{HR}{/i}
19{i}They encountered me in the day of my calamity;{HR}But Jehovah was my stay.{/i}
20{i}And he brought me forth into a large place;{HR}He delivered me, because he delighted in me.{HR}{/i}
21{i}Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness,{HR}According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.{HR}{/i}
22{i}For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,{HR}And have not wickedly departed from my God.{HR}{/i}
23{i}For all his ordinances were before me,{HR}And his statutes, I did not depart from them,{HR}{/i}
24{i}And I was upright before him,{HR}And kept myself from mine iniquity.{HR}{/i}
25{i}And Jehovah hath recompensed me according to my righteousness,{HR}According to my cleanness in his sight.{/i}
26{i}With the gracious thou dost show thyself gracious;{HR}With the upright man thou dost show thyself upright;{HR}{/i}
27{i}With the pure thou dost show thyself pure;{HR}And with the perverse thou dost show thyself contrary.{HR}{/i}
28{i}And the afflicted people thou dost save;{HR}And thine eyes are upon the haughty, whom thou bringest down.{/i}
29{i}For thou art my lamp, Jehovah;{HR}And Jehovah enlighteneth my darkness.{HR}{/i}
30{i}For by thee I have run through a troop;{HR}By my God have I leaped over a wall.{HR}{/i}
31{i}As for God, his way is perfect;{HR}The word of Jehovah is tried:{HR}He is a shield to all that trust in him.{/i}
32{i}For who is God, save Jehovah?{HR}And who is a rock, save our God?{HR}{/i}
33{i}God is my strong fortress,{HR}And he maketh my way perfectly smooth.{HR}{/i}
34{i}He maketh my feet like hinds' feet,{HR}And setteth me upon my high places.{HR}{/i}
35{i}He teacheth my hands to war,{HR}And mine arms bend a bow of brass.{HR}{/i}
36{i}And thou didst give me the shield of thy salvation,{HR}And thy condescending gentleness hath made me great.{HR}{/i}
37{i}Thou enlargedst my steps under me;{HR}And mine ankles did not slip.{/i}
38{i}I pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them,{HR}And I turned not again till they were consumed.{HR}{/i}
39{i}And I have consumed them and have crushed them,{HR}And they rose not again;{HR}Yea, they fell under my feet.{HR}{/i}
40{i}And thou girdedst me with strength to battle:{HR}Thou didst subdue under me those that rose up against me.{HR}{/i}
41{i}And mine enemies didst thou make to turn their backs unto me,{HR}And those that hated me I destroyed.{HR}{/i}
42{i}They looked, and there was none to save—{HR}Unto Jehovah, and he answered them not.{HR}{/i}
43{i}And I did beat them small as the dust of the earth,{HR}I trod them as the mire of the streets;{HR}I stamped upon them.{/i}
44{i}And thou hast delivered me from the strivings of my people,{HR}Thou hast kept me to be head of the nations:{HR}A people I knew not doth serve me:{HR}{/i}
45{i}Strangers come cringing unto me:{HR}At the hearing of the ear, they obey me.{HR}{/i}
46{i}Strangers have faded away,{HR}And they come trembling forth from their close places.{/i}
47{i}Jehovah liveth; and blessed be my rock;{HR}And exalted be the God, the rock of my salvation,{HR}{/i}
48{i}The God who hath avenged me,{HR}And hath brought the peoples under me.{HR}{/i}
49{i}He brought me forth from mine enemies:{HR}Yea, thou hast lifted me up above them that rose up against me;{HR}From the man of violence hast thou delivered me.{HR}{/i}
50{i}Therefore will I give thanks to thee,{HR}Jehovah, among the nations,{HR}And will sing psalms to thy name.{HR}{/i}
51{i}It is he who giveth great deliverances to his king,{HR}And showeth loving-kindness to his anointed,{HR}To David, and to his seed for evermore.{/i} (2 Sam. 22:1‑51)
