Have a Happy Day!
You don’t have to wait until your birthday or a holiday to celebrate. Why not celebrate today?
Life may seem dull and only brightened by an occasional special day. But a writer in the Bible had a different outlook: “This is the day which the Lord hath made,” he said. “We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
He was talking about every day of the year — not just holidays. The reason to celebrate each day is that every day is another gift from God to us!
The Apostle Paul felt the same way. He wrote: “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). And when he wrote those words, he was in prison in Rome!
Wouldn’t you like that confidence and joy regardless of circumstances? It’s not a matter of putting on blinders or shutting out reality. Rather, it’s a case of putting your trust in the Lord Jesus and recognizing that He cares for you.
When you do that, every day becomes a special day. No need then to scour the calendar to find an excuse for celebrating.
You can personally enjoy this new life from God by hearing and receiving what He says.
1. Recognize that your sinning separates you from God, and in honest repentance admit your need to be saved: “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
2. Realize that God loves you, and believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
3. Receive Him into your heart by faith, and trust Him as your Savior: “As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).
If you’ve responded in faith to God’s Word and received Christ as your Savior, you’re a Christian and you will want to tell others what Christ has done for you. “After the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached everywhere” (Mark 16:19-20).
