Handed the equivalent of $150 billion by his father, King Solomon made so much more that he could turn silver into landscaping gravel. He concluded, “all is vanity and vexation of spirit” (Eccl. 1:14). Writing from prison, the Apostle Paul said, “I joy, and rejoice with you” (Philippians 2:17). Real joy comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. That comes when we repent “and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). God tells us that in His presence is “fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). When we get to know Him, we can say, “God my exceeding joy” (Psalm 43:4). That’s a joy that doesn’t come and go with our changing circumstances. Do you want to know Him? You can!
