Those who trust their own thoughts and feelings do refuse Him that speaketh. They strive to find a reason in themselves or in the nature of things (Hebrews 12:25-29 by W. Kelly)
The reason is not in man, still less in nature, but in the grace of God Who has brought a new and everlasting glory to Himself by the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Thus can He not only afford righteously to save all that believe, but to find His joy in saving the most unworthy, yet only on their heeding Him that speaks. See that ye refuse Him not! (Hebrews 12:25-29 by W. Kelly)
We have seen them connected with all that went before, with the Lord’s testimony on earth; but, in fact, they had to do at that time with the Lord Himself as speaking from heaven. (Hebrews 12 by J.N. Darby)
If there was no escape from judgment for the one who disobeyed the voice of God when He spoke on earth, requiring righteousness from man, much less will there be any escape from judgment for those who refuse the voice of God now that He is speaking from heaven in grace. (God's Means to Keep Us in the Path of Faith: Hebrews 12 by H. Smith)
