The first time I read this in my teens I found it wonderfully simple to understand. It clarified many foundational issues for me. Since then I have read Twelve Letters to Young Believers by Edward Dennett and Plain Papers for Young Believers by Alfred Taylor Schofield with profit but at the time I’d found them slow going. Not Bible Questions and Answers whose simple, colloquial illustrations make a world of difference in appreciating sanctification, justification and so much more. I still can’t think of the three aspects of justification in Romans without thinking of the reservoir, pipe and tap that Barker mentions. Since then I’ve read it three more times and found it a help to my soul with every visit to its pages.
