(Dt. 24:1‑4)
;
¿ó quiénes son mis acreedores, á quienes os he yo vendido? He aquí que por vuestras maldades sois vendidos, y por vuestras rebeliones fué repudiada vuestra madre: (Is. 50:1)
;
(Mt. 5:31‑32)
;
(Mt. 19:3‑9)

5Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Por la dureza de vuestro corazón os escribió este mandamiento;

that he hateth putting away.
or, if he hate her, put heraway.
Heb. to put away.
covereth.
 And in the prophets He continually reminded them of His union with them, that He was married to them, and that, therefore, He could not cast them off. (See Isa. 1; Jer. 3:1-14, and more.) It was this same spirit He would have them show in their relationships. (Malachi 2 by E. Dennett)
 There is little doubt that verse 16 contains a general principle, and one, therefore, that has been rightly applied to discipline in the Church; for the heart of God must be expressed in discipline as much as in brotherly fellowship. If this were borne in mind there could be no room for haste or harshness, no forgetting the object of true and divine discipline, no satisfaction felt in the cutting off of the offender. (Malachi 2 by E. Dennett)
