5discreet, chaste, workers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God be not ill-spoken of.
6The younger men likewise exhort to be right-minded,
7in all things showing thyself a pattern of good works, in the teaching uncorruptness, gravity,
8healthy speech that cannot be condemned, that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil to say concerning us:
9bond-servants to be in subjection to their own masters, to be well-pleasing in all things, not gainsaying,
10not purloining, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11For the grace of God appeared bringing salvation to all men,

2 Peter 1:5‑8• 5But for this very thing also, bringing in besides all diligence, in your faith supply virtue, and in virtue knowledge,

1 John 4:7‑16• 7Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God; and every one that loveth hath been begotten of God, and knoweth God.
8He that loveth not knew not God, because God is love.
9Herein was manifested the love of God in us, that God hath sent His only-begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us, and sent his Son [as] propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12No one hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love hath been perfected in us.
13Herein we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he hath given to us of his Spirit.
14And we have beheld, and testify that the Father hath sent his Son as Saviour of the world.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.
16And we have known and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love, and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God in him.
(1 John 4:7‑16)
goodness.
faith.
The flesh has its "works", but produces no fruit for God. The Spirit produces both good works and fruit; though, in this passage, the Apostle speaks not of works but of the beautiful Christian character from which all true work will flow…. "Love", "joy" and "peace" set forth the inward experience of the soul; "longsuffering" and "kindness", the attitude of soul towards others; "goodness" and "fidelity", the qualities that should actuate us in our dealings with others; (Galatians 5 by H. Smith)
