6And now ye know that which restrains, that he should be revealed in his own time.
7For the mystery of lawlessness already works; only there is he who restrains now until he be gone,
8and then the lawless one shall be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall consume with the breath of his mouth, and shall annul by the appearing of his coming;
9whose coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and wonders of falsehood,

6For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts,

and bring.
 Even before the Kingdom of the heavens came or the church was founded on the Lord dead, risen, and ascended, He warned (in Matt. 13) of the darnel which the enemy would sow among the wheat. Clearly it is neither pagans nor Jews but nominal Christians, who could not be cut off, and should pursue their destructive evil till the Son of Man come in personal judgment. (2 Peter 2:1-3 by W. Kelly)
 in 1 Timothy 4 he says that the Spirit speaks expressly of some in latter times falling away from the faith, heeding deceiving spirits in hypocrisy of legend-mongers without conscience yet ascetics; and in 2 Timothy 3 he speaks of the opposite school of self-will or self-indulgence and proud lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Peter 2:1-3 by W. Kelly)
 There is no difficulty in the Apostle's predicating of these false teachers that the Sovereign Master bought them. It is "purchase," which is universal, not "redemption" (2 Peter 2:1-3 by W. Kelly)
 The next two chapters set before us, on the other hand, the two forms of evil that characterize the last days-the false and corrupt teaching of bad men, and the unbelief which denies the return of the Lord on the ground of the stability of the visible creation. (2 Peter 2 by J.N. Darby)
 The simile is of a master who has purchased slaves at the market, and they disown and refuse to obey him. (2 Peter 2 by J.N. Darby)
 “Denying the Lord that bought them.” The ransom price purchased all (Matt. 13:44,38) but only those having faith benefit (1 Tim. 2:6; Rom. 3:22). (Help on Hard Verses by A.C. Brown)

a
The Revisers give rightly "the Master" that bought them; for it is purchase, not redemption, which is in question. Purchase is universal; not so redemption, which is inseparable from faith in Christ and the forgiveness of offenses. It is clear from the passage before us that the most wicked are "bought" by the Master, whom they deny to their own swift destruction; that they were "redeemed" is mere assumption, and, in fact, a grave error.
b
The word simply means "bought," and is so translated.
