 Evil boasts itself in power, but faith sees another thing. The goodness of God, before whom men are as grasshoppers, endures, however evil prevails yet continually. There is no moment where it is not fully in Him, no day when anything escapes Him or anything is out of His reach. It is not only the power of God, but His goodness. This is a great general truth.  The opening verse presents the antichrist―the lawless one―boasting in evil (JND), and in the place of power as a “mighty man.” (Psalms 52 by H. Smith)
 This psalm begins a new series taking us back into the great tribulation where the godly remnant are seen suffering under persecution from their apostate brethren and Antichrist. The heading of the psalm indicates the remnant have had to flee. David and those associated with him at the time of his flight from Saul, are a picture of Christ identifying Himself in spirit with the godly remnant who must flee on account of Antichrist’s persecution of whom Saul is a type.
